So I am inquiring about the below quote which is a general guideline for application

Quote:
Remember the thin to thick rule. Thin products before thick ones, so all can absorb effectively
-Cleanser (may need to wait before exfoliate, if pH is a concern)
(optional pH adjusting product could be used here, after cleansing - before acid)
-Exfoliate (usually requires a wait time)
-Toner (Liquid water like products, such as toner/treatment solutions, liquid DMAE)
-Serum (Copper Serum, treatment Serums, DMAE thicker products)
-Gel (DMAE, deffrin)
-Oils (Emu, Jojoba, Almond, etc)
-Creams
-Sunscreen
-Foundations

I am a little confused as far as applying treatment serums after showering. I read that different serums like Vitamin C serums are best when applied to "clean" skin. And are best when they are not applied after one has not applied anything else. So if I shave then apply Vitamin C serum, wouldn't this go against that thought and disrupt the penetration and effectiveness of my vitamin C serum?

My cleanser and shave cream have plenty of ingredients:

Macadamia Oil, Aloe Vera etc in my shave cream...

Ceramides, Glycerin etc in my cleanser...

That rule applies to products that stay on skin, methinks, as in, all the boosters, essences, serums and treatments go first and then get sealed in with a moisturizer. Shave cream gets washed off, so IMO it wouldn't affect anything.
I also think those wait times are really arbitrary, I find the longer I wait the more my skin loses moisture. I forgot which brand it was, but they allow 4-5 seconds between products, which is something I do anyway, and it seems to work so much better. Just pile everything on and it sinks in eventually.
