hi EDS this is my first post and my first day here so i apologise if this has already been answered. but i am at a loss as to what to do about foundation. i have generally good skin, but easily wound up. sensitive and acne prone when it comes to irritating products. i recently started using the bare minerals makeup, and while i kind of like the look of it... wow did it bother my skin - i wonder why!!!!! i am looking for a natural looking foundation, for somewhat oily sensitive skin. nothing has ever annoyed my skin like that mineral foundation, perhaps it is an allergic reaction to something. i do not want this dewy finish that always seems to oxidise terribly. is there any hope?!
hope to hear from someone! thank you ! |

Embrace your oiliness it's going to keep you looking younger, you still need moisture, don't be fooled! With that said, I recommend Koh Gen Moisture concealer, it's light yet covers so well and creates a great blurred look and it's amazing for sensitive skin, I had sampled from this company and none of their products bothered my skin, which was amazing because my skin reacts rather fast...within a few mins if it doesn't like something. It has wonderful ingredients it seems, was designed to keep the skin from drying out like most concealers do |

As for bare minerlas.... STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!! please.
Bare Minerals damaged my skin and many other people's skin. There are lawsuits against the company. They are quick to respond if you have issues and willing to pay for your dermatologist and treatments etc. because they know what they are doing. I hate that companies can get away with this. Their products contain a lot of bismuth oxychloride which is so bad for the skin. Look it up. It's a metal. It gets lodged in pores and stuck and has trouble coming out. For some people it can cause serious allergic reactions (not just on the skin, but through respiratory issues as well!) but people don't realize this because it's not advertised on their products to watch for allergy that is common to this ingredient. You definitely have an allergy to this so check all ingredients for it always. Over time, this ingredient causes microscopic tears in the skin and unhealthy skin. People are damaging their skin with it and have no idea if they aren't having allergic reactions. |

Ah I meant the Maifanshi Moisture FOUNDATION, not the concealer, although I like the concealer too, but you don't need it, the foundation is good enough. It's on the expensive side, but so worth it, it's used by most celebrities. |

I personally like a thin layer of mineral foundation. I like true mineral makeup from indie companies.
I have never used Bare Minerals but be aware of companies adding extra "unnecessary" ingredients such as Bismuth O.
If you really have good skin overall, I would conceal if necessary and use just a translucent finishing powder. Blot if needed. You can buy blotting sheets at the drug store or even just plain brown napkins. |

A couple that my finicky skin loves are KohGenDo's Aqua Foundation and Amarte's Natural Finish BB Cream. Both give a natural look--your skin looks like skin, just better--with light to medium coverage depending on application.
As Autumn mentions, bismuth in mineral makeup can be really irritating and sensitizing for some skins. Mine can't tolerate it for long without busting into angry excema etc. |

I am using Chantecaille future skin foundation, it is very thin and suite for sensitive skin use. You may try it on their counter. |

I super love Jane Iredale's BB cream. I never wore foundation, I could not stand how it felt and I did not really like the way it looked until I began using JI products. I love using the BB cream and apply it over my physical sunblock as this seems to prime my skin for the BB cream which then applies easily and spreads nicely. |

I also like a thin layer foundation. HR prodigy powercell foundation is thin and never lets your skin turn grey. Highly recommend. |

I am a huge fan of skin-like foundations e.g. MAC Face and Body. It is quite dewy though, not everyone likes this kind of finish. My skin is also very sensitive and it never caused me any problems, but everyone is different. I personally stay away from foundations with talc and chemical SPF bacause my skin reacts terribly to both. |
