Hello All,
I'm pretty discouraged lately with the area around my mouth. I'm 54 and thin (same weight since being 20 years old and no fluctuation to speak of).
My problem (face): Sagging skin around mouth, marionette lines, beginnings of little jowls on jawbone. Very depressing.... Cheek area seems to have undergone fat loss, therefore making the lower part of my face look like it is melting like a candle.
What I've tried: Lightstim, LouLou's Ageless, Carolyn's facial fitness, massage, dry brushing, tons of money wasted on topicals (vit C, hyaluronic, etc).
I have to say, after all this over the last 2 years, I actually look worse. : (
Would anyone kindly weigh in on what they think could be the best gadget that might help? (I don't want to go fillers or facelift route at this time).
If I could only buy one device, where would be the best place to put my money? Tria? STOP? Dermaroller? Other ideas?
Thanks to all in advance! |

I've had great results with STOP - see the big thread below. I also recommend Skin Biology's copper peptides - but start out SLOW with those.
Before Stop, I was doing regular high-percentage glycolic-acid and TCA peels (still do). Those will also stimulate the production of collagen.
And of course always use sunscreen and NO suntanning. |

Kandi, have you had your hormone levels checked? The women in my family tend to hit the aging wall at around mid-fifties. It sounds like you have tried a bunch of things. Because you are already lean, your face will show signs of sagging more so than someone who is heavier. I would suggest to make an appointment with a doctor who specializes in female hormone therapy. I am right behind you in age, and that's what I plan to do within the next several years. |

Thank you PhotoPro for the info on the STOP. I'm going to be reading up on that. Are you around my age? (54) You say you had good results - what areas did you treat? Did you treat sagging?
Swissmom - funny you mention the female hormones. I've been menopausal 4 years, and that is when my face started melting like a candle. I had been feeling more and more ill the past 4 years, and my doctor JUST put me on the Estradiol patch 2 weeks ago! It has been a dramatic turn-around in how I feel (energy, brain functioning again). I wonder if this patch can help my face look a little better? So far it hasn't but its only been 2 weeks. Maybe there is no reversing it once its happened though, even with the hormones added back. |

Hi
I am 51. I have tried almost every gadget under the sun, and the only one that has worked for me is the Sqoom. I also periodically use my Stop, in the hopes that it will do something, someday, but I don't really see anything happening with it.
With the Sqoom, I get an immediate freshening effect, and longer term lifting around the jowls. It's the only gadget I take on holiday with me.
I also throw in Ageless from time to time, but I have to confess to being a bit lazy in terms of keeping up with it.
I am using Valmont topicals, and I'm happy with this routine. It does NOT turn back the clock, but it keeps me looking fresh - one session with the Sqoom erases any tired look (which is why I always take it on holiday with me). |
