I recently introduced a stand alone Hyaluronic acid into my routine and it's messing up my happy layering life. I need help please!
I use Vernal Hyaluronic Acid Pure.
Ingredients: Purified water, Hyaluronic acid, benzyl alcohol .1%. It's not quite as heavy as a serum but not watery either. It dries very fast though.
---
My typical routine:
AM:
Cerave Foaming Face Wash.
MUAC "PH prep" AHA that I use daily as a toner.
Dr. Bailey's Green Tea antioxidant formula (also contains HA). This is more of a serum, but it dries nicely.
Cerave AM lotion with spf.
PM:
Cerave foaming cleanser
DIY niacinamide/glucosamine/distilled water toner.
PC 1% Retinol with antioxidants.
(can my step after cleansing be the HA and then the toner? Will the toner penetrate over the HA?)
---
So now I want to incorporate the Hyaluronic Acid and the directions are to put it on immediately after washing my face, while face is damp. So for AM after that's on can I then add the AHA toner, or should the toner go on first on my clean skin and then wait a while and spritz water on my face and add the HA? I fear that I'll be washing away the toner if I do that, yet if I use the HA first I'm afraid the toner (which is like water) won't penetrate?
Another problem is that I'm supposed to put lotion on right after the HA, and so in that case the HA has to be the last step. I don't really know if the green tea serum will be enough to moisturize my face after I start this HA. Regardless if I do the HA first, and have two other steps before I finally get to my lotion, will the HA dry out my skin? I hate wearing any lotion on my face and the only reason I wear this cerave is for the niacinamide and sunscreen benefits. My skin is not dry typically but from what I understand, the HA may make it so. I live in Arizona and it's very dry here.
Thanks for any help, I tried to condense this but I'm sorry it's still quite long. |

I wanted to add in case anyone is wondering why I want to add the HA when I already have it in the lotion I use and in the green tea antioxidant, is because I recently had surgery and the only thing I used on my face each day in those early weeks was this HA product and Lubriderm lotion after. It amazingly did wonders and plumped up my skin and gave it a dewy glow I hadn't had before.
So now I'm back to my routine of using all these other products and don't know where to put this stuff. |
