I use a cleansing oil, and then follow with a non oil-based cleanser. |

I think a cleansing oil is absolutely necessary to completely remove high silicon sunscreens like Sofina. I used to only use a gel cleanser, then moved onto some pure plant oils and it made cleansing almost impossible, I think I irritate my skin more by excessively rubbing to remove all traces of the sunscreen. I think it's not important about the brand but just to find something that emulsifies well with both oils and water. I just use a drugstore Kanebo one, it is light, low fragrance and leaves very little oil residue and removes Sofina completely and quickly. Some of the more expensive brands like Shu Uemura actually do not do as well when it comes to rinsing clean.
I always follow a second step cleansing with a gel based cleanser to remove traces of the cleansing oil.
I've tried Kanebo Int'l's cleansing cream and it did not do as well as a cleansing oil, it did not emulsify with the silicon sunscreen at all, I think certain cream/milk cleansers work well with makeup but not sunscreen. |

I have not tried the Fancl, I'm very happy with the Kanebo and do not use it very often anyway so I'm not looking to try different brands anytime soon. The Kanebo one I found on Ebay, it is a yellow coloured bottle and is relatively cheap, at only $5 USD but the shipping is $8. |

I used Shisedo FT Mild SPF 50. It can be removed with Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Lotion and a wet wash cloth or pretty much any brand of cleansing wipes. |

I used to cleanse off Sofina Lucent with Fancl oil followed by a glycolic cleanser, and I always thought I was getting it all off. Well, after changing to a different SS, I have noticed my pores are definitely cleaner and smaller. Anyone else have this happen? I loved Sofina, but it just seemed like such work getting it off! and then I think I wasn't even getting my face clean. Pity. |

Hi fawnie, I feel the same too about getting the Sofina ss completely off. I use Fancl Cleansing Oil too. I feel there's still a film on my face and my pores are not as clean. Also, I seem to break out a few days later too. I'm not sure if it's the Sofina ss or the Fancl Oil that I'm reacting to. ![Sad](images/smiles/sad.gif) |

I use grapeseed oil (from Whole Foods) to remove my s/s, then follow with my regular cleanser. |

I usually use the Shiseido Cleansing Oil. I've tried the Dermalogica one but prefer the consistancy of the Shiseido. I too always cleanse again with a gel cleanser after using a cleansing oil, just to make sure all traces are removed! |

I don't use Sofina anymore, but I still use a cleansing oil every night to remove my sunscreen (I use the highest PPD sunscreens by La Roche-Posay & Bioderma). For me, it's an imperative step in getting my face perfectly clean. If you're using Asian sunscreens, which are high in alcohol, silicones, mattifying, and generally skin-drying ingredients, I would strongly recommend it. Otherwise, you will probably not completely remove it; an undetectable film will most likely remain.
I have used over 20 bottles (at least!) of cleansing oil (every price range) and I have always followed up with a mild gel cleanser. The one that has worked brilliantly for me for years, to my luck, is the SUPER CHEAP J&J Head to Toe--$5 per 28 oz. I know I kind of sound like I get paid to say this, but it's just that I love that my skin loves this stuff. The most important thing in my skincare routine--my cleanser--is the cheapest and most easily found thing on the planet. I have seen this stuff at 7-Eleven! |

I never thought I had a problem getting the sofina ss off with my shiseido cleansing foam? I only tried the Fancl cleansing oil because I wanted to get the Shiseido ss (in the blue bottle) and I knew that one is hard to get off my skin.
So far the Fancl is pretty good. I've been using it every night for the past 5 days and giving my face a nice massage before I rinse it off. It seems to get the ss off no problem (don't think the ss was hard to get off in the first place) but it left my skin a little tight/dry. Still, I like it cuz my face feels very clean after...maybe my foam cleanser didn't do as good a job as I thought?
Has anyone tried Shu cleansing oils? Penny for your thoughts? |

I've tried a couple of the Shu oils and wasn't that impressed. They work, but for the price I think there are many other superior and cheaper cleansing oils out there.
Sometimes my face can feel a little dry after using an oil cleanser. It's worth trying a few different ones. I'd forgotten that Babor has a great cleansing oil that got some great reviews on here and is one that i'd repurchase again too |

I just ordered a Shiseido sunscreen but was a bit hesitant b/c of the removal. I was thinking to massage some of my jojoba oil on my face and then wash with my regular cleanser and microfiber cloth(right now I'm using a creamy cleanser - does it matter what type of cleanser I use after the oil?). Would this work? It looks like you basically do this same thing. This is my first experience with a japanese sunscreen. TIA! |

I use Sofina Nuance and remove it and make-up with 50/50 olive and castor oil. I don't follow up with another cleanser but sometimes I use a microfiber cloth - I then use a mild non alcohol toner. Since I've been using this cleansing method my skin has been completely clear of breakouts. |

I could have written this post except substitute Sofina for Shiseido. I'm still waiting for my Bobodave package (sigh) but hope to have it in the next few days. I have my jojoba oil waiting... I think I must have read on a thread somewhere that this will work ok. |

I have used it and it works well, but I would never purchase it because it works just as well as $5 Kanebo and Kose cleansing oils. |

That's funny, I can't tell you how many times I was this close to ordering Sofina from bobodave's. I ended up getting the shiseido mainly because it was a little easier to order and quicker to arrive. I'm thinking mine might get here tomorrow. Good luck, I hope you love it! BTW, does it matter what kind of cleanser, creamy or foaming, to use after the jojoba? |

I don't have a clue! Anyone? I was just going to use Cetaphil since that's what I use now. I'm a Dr. Hauschka girl, so I was thinking I'd use the CC in the morning (+ toner and day oil), and the jojoba oil & Cetaphil followed by the Dr. H clarifying toner in the evening. |
