Has anyone here used both and can offer a comparison? I've heard both are appropriate for acne-prone, sensitive skin. Is this true?
Which has the most effective ingredients and safest for sensitive skin? |

La Roche Posay has many products. which one are u refering to?
I have used the LRP fluide extreme sunscreen. It is tooooo good on my sensitive skin. I doubt I will ever use any other sunscreen on my face.
To find out more abt. ingredients of a product, you can email the manufacturers directly - hopefully they respond |

Hi, La Roche Posay makes lots of products including BioMedic which is a good line for acne. It is very strong, but they have different products for sensitive, acne-prone skin. They also make the great sunscreen Sweet_Angel mentioned. The proplem with their BioMedic line is it is only sold no-line after a "conultation". I'm not sure if you can have this consultation on-line or over the phone. There are many sites that sell BioMedic. Here is a link to one:
http://www.dermstore.com/list_BioMedic_100107.htm
You can purchase the sunscreen at:
http://www.zitomer.com/index.asp?PageAction=MFGSEARCH&ManfID=80&Page=1
It's expensive, but really good if you have sensitive skin.
Sorry but I haven't tried the other line you mentioned.

I guess I was referring to both lines as a whole.
I've heard the Toleriane line from LRP is very good too. |

Hi! I have used most products in the Avene range and really liked them. The Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser ( the green one)is really good and I love the Eye makeup remover to bits.
Cleanance is the range for sensitive, breakout or oil prone skin. Cleanance, the day cream and the Cleanance K (has hydroxy acids in that one) are both nice too. Though they are most definitely fragranced ( sort of like a woodsy aftershave smell!) ... it doesnt seem to be detrimental on the sensitivity side. ( unless you are allergic to that particular fragrance I guess! )
I have the Skin Recovery cream as well which is really good when any excema pops up...and the eye cream is great too. My hubby also used the eyecream when he had excema on his eyelid and it cleared it within a day or 2.
Anyway... I really recommend Avene personally! |

I am using the toleriane line (dermo cleanser, and soothing cream) for my sensitive skin. They are no-frills, fragrance free, simple products. You can see the ingredients on dermstore.com and they offer free samples if you are in US.
I am also using fluide extreme spf. You can get it on ebay and other online etailers at a much better price than zitomer. However I heard zitomer is great with free samples.
The only Avene product I have tried is the soothing mask. It broke me out. |

Avene's mask is a very soothing, moisture based non drying mask meant for dry, sensitive skin. It isn't clay based or designed for anything more than being a comforting moisture mask really, which is nice for the right skin in need of more nourishment... so it probably wouldnt be one that you'd choose if you had acne prone skin should you decide to give this range a go. |

You can buy Biomedic skin care on-line from various web sites without a consultation. Many Biomedic products contain glycolic acid and salicylic acid; Some have kojic acid, hydroquinone and some type of alcohol. I think Midwest Skincare probably has the best prices for Biomedic products. |

The Avene moisture mask in very good. Avene Trixera is very good for eczema.
My son uses the LRP Toleraine line. It is very gentle. He has very sensitive skin.
My daughter has used the LRP Effaclar line to control her breakouts. She has tried the Avene Cleanance line but prefers Effaclar over Avene to control her breakouts. |

I think Avene's Diacneal is intended for acne--it's a 6% glycolic acid combined with retinaldehyde, a fairly potent OTC retinoid. |

Recently bought the Cleanance soapless gel cleanser from Avene. I really liked it, texture, fragrance and packaging. It feels gentle on skin and yet cleans thoroughly.
Tried the Avene moisturiser too. Other than it being pretty pricy, it didnt leave much of an impression on me.
I am still trying out both brands myself, but my impression from researching reviews is that Avene tends to give better results for people who have existing sensitive skin issues. Otherwise, imho it just seems like an expensive but good & safe basic skincare line.
LRP products seems to give more tangible results for other specific skincare concerns like anti-aging, acne, firming, whitening, etc.
Love the Redermic eyes product from LRP. |

Avene for everything but sunscreen. I like La Roche Posay and Bioderma sunscreens for the best UVA protection in the market today. |

I've tried both Avene and LRP. Overall, I like LRP better. I found that the Avene line didn't help my skin, it sort of made my skin dependent on their products. Just like the lip balm they have...the more I use it, the more I need it because my lip just didn't feel moisturized! |
