There should be a skin care app to guide everyone when it comes to skincare. or maybe there is already one and I just don't know about it? |

What would you like to get out of it ? I beleive skin care needs to be adapted to each individual in way that it would be almost impossible to have an App that could do that.
However, I like the Beautypedia. Each time I want to by something I look it up. I don't always agree with the reviews. however, I know what I'm buying. Every time I bought a product that was poorly rate I ended up disliking the product. Therefore, now I save me money cause I no longer buy expensive crappy stuffs. |

I agree with chantrelle that you should know what you are buying. I try to research and I need a full list of ingredients. I hate companies that are secretive about ingredients and or list the ingredients in alphabetical order.
I know what I want to avoid so it helps if I can research online. Sunscreen is one item that requires a LOT of research. |

Not an app, but maybe these books or blogs can help you.
Skintype solutions by Dr. Bauman

Book: http://www.amazon.ca/Skin-Type-Solution-Leslie-Baumann/dp/0553383302
I suggest borrowing the book from the library. You do not have buy her suggested products (most are available from the drugstore) but it gives you an idea of where to start.
Dr. Bailey has a blog (another derm)
http://www.drbaileyskincare.com/blog/
I am sure others will have suggestions. |

The beautypedia is now an App and you have access to the review. So you can look up product while at the store. |

I recently read about an upcoming "personal skin care coach" device called the "OKU". It's a wireless smart skin care device that takes a picture of your skin and rates it on the following factors: pigmentation, luminosity, firmness, moisture, oil and texture. Here is a blurb from their website:
What is OKU?
OKU is the world’s first iPhone connected device developed specifically for looking after and maintaining the wellness of your skin. Connect OKU to your iPhone, download the app, scan your skin (as often as you like) and help your skin achieve its optimal youthful, potential by getting real-time, personalized skincare advice.
Based on the fields of dermoscopy, nanotechnology and spectroscopy . OKU was developed after 100 years of combined research and data collected from all skin types from all over the world. We package this research in an easy to use experience – in our quest to make the world a more beautiful place. Everything you need is in the power-packed device and the app.
