After seeing some recommendations for this on the forum, I finally decided to bite the bullet and try this. I am actually using Jane Iredale pressed base at the moment (and have no plans to stop in the near future) so I don't really need another powder, but I was just too curious about it Rolling Eyes

T.LeClerc Translucent Loose is a *wonderful* powder! It's very finelly milled and it looks really natural. Controls the oilies quite well too. It looks rather too pink in the jar but the shade is just fantastic for my pale skin. I just apply this with my A'Squirrel Kabuki Brush and it looks and feels like I don't have anything on my face. I detect a very faint scent to it. While I can't quite put my finger on it, it is quite nice and only detectable when applying the powder.

This powder does have one fairly serious down side - the packaging. While it comes in a lovely aluminium antique-like matte container, it really is a poor choice of storage for a loose powder. You have to be *very* careful when opening it as you're likely to lose a fair bit of powder when you take off the lid (having read some reviews I was aware of this and did a whole lot of tapping etc to prevent this and STILL lost some!) this is despite there being a temporary plastic plug to stop the powder. You take the plastic plug off and insert a sifter that just sits on top of the powder, i.e. it does not attach to the jar in any way. That means that unless you're very careful, you'll need to dig the sifter out from the powder because some of the powder comes onto the sifter from around the edges rather that through the sifter. While this whole concept is fairly unique, it's not very convenient and DEFINITELY not travel friendly. The powder does come in a travel jar (much smaller) which I'm now thinking is probably a good way to go.

Mabsy, you're using the loose powder right? I agree that its absolutely awesome! The also put out a yellow powder and a green one - I was really surprised to see how great they are at toning down any ruddiness ( no longer a problem for me, but it was at one time... ). There is also another loose powder they have - for the life of me I can't remember what its called - but it gives your skin a matte sheen and is fabulous for the evening....

All of their powders also come in very convenient (and pretty) matte silver compacts. Unlike some compacted powders that have a different consistency, the LeClerc compacts are every bit as good as the loose powder.

Yeah, it's the loose one. I'm kicking myself for not going with the travel compact or even the pressed one. I went with the loose because you get so much more for the price. Silly really, because there's no way I'll ever finish this powder anyway Rolling Eyes

Packaging is a important factor for me when purchasing products. Thank you for such a detailed description!

This powder is fantasic! Laughing Yeah the big drawback is the package, look nice but will waste the powder if not open carefully. The best way is to transfer a bit into a smaller container. I'm using a shu uemura container to hold a bit. Since the powder is like forever-cannot-finish... the best way is to share it among with you sisters, mom, or gal frens.

For color, Banane is a universal choice for everybody. Translucent is a good brigtener. There are two colors with shimmer if I'm not wrong. Another way of using is to blend 2-3 colors together to match your skintone.

The shimmery ones are fantastic for evening.... I have a huge brush and dust my shoulders and decolletage with it.

Sab is right - the banane is universal. I was shocked the first time I tried it because it is literally yellow! It is really excellent for correcting any redness at all. I usually dust my face with the translucide, then do a couple of spots (my nose, chin...) with the banane, then do a final dusting over my entire face with the clean brush... It's a very pretty effect and keeps my skin matte on all but the most hideously humid Washington, DC days...
