I have lines on my cheeks when I smile, my face tone is uneven and bags/dark circles under my eyes with occasionally acne, also acne scars-not too bad.

I've heard about rose water, and vitamin c serum. I was using retin a but that was way too harsh on my skin.

Lately I've just been using a cleaning brush and regular cerave face moisturizer.

I have what appear to be a line-but not where my laugh line is going down I saw it yesterday and it's bothering me I don't know if its due to dehydration or not.

I'm 25 and African american, dark tones, just looking for some tips and advice,
alos is it a advantage or disadvantage to use vitamin c serum in your 20;s?

You say you have lines on your cheeks when you smile, but when you stop smiling are those lines still visible? Everyone has lines – even little kids, but the difference is their elastin etc is usually less damaged so when they stop making that expression their tissue is very healthy and snaps back immediately. At 20 using Retin A isn’t harsh but you need to be working with a professional derm to get the best and most out of it. Prevention at your age is way to go – and better than cure. Vit C is a great all rounder to use on your skin and at 20 years you are way ahead of the game in choosing that. Rose water is hit and miss for people, depending on your skin type.

Now the other thing is sun protection is a must. Even though you are young, it is often the sun damage people get in their teen years that later comes back to haunt them and it doesn’t show up right away. UVA and UVB damage can show up in a person’s 40’s – and that’s just sun exposure from their teen years so gives you an indicator of the time it takes. The cerave moisturiser is a nice and gentle moisturiser which if it suits your skin type is perfect. The rosewater is a nice toner but it may not be something that you need. Toners are only really necessary if you don’t cleanser your cleanser off your skin properly – they just mop up the excess. Unless you are using an acid toner – which at 20 years old you shouldn’t be!

TheresaMary, I have faint fine lines but they go away after smiling. This one isnt where I smile. I use sunscreen Neutrogena, but admit I having been consistent. I'm trying to find a routine. I was seeing a derm after bring on retin a for a year and it was breaking me out and made my skin super sensitive. All he would say was use it with Vaseline and my skin breaks out from anything oily. So I saw another derm and she put me on generic retin a but lowered and still the same she tried differin but it was $209 a tube.
Do you think vitamin c of ROC will be good enough?

Try adding some face oil to your last step face cream. The new oil from La Mer is pretty good, no greasy feeling.
