I had been using Jane Iredale Lip Drink with 8% zinc oxide for a long time. It was more user-friendly than Burnout which although with 20% zinc oxide but had a somwhwat gritty consistency and was a bit whitening on my lips (takes some time to sink in). Recently I had ordered the Hurraw! SPF15 lip balm and found it a worth replacement for the JI Lip Drink at a more affordable price. It is moisturising (on my lips - but YMMV on this) and non-whitening. The taste is pleasant (a hint of tangerine and chamomile).
It is really difficult to find a lip balm with sun protection which doesn't have octinoxate or oxybenzone (2 substances which I personally wouldn't like to ingest from my lips and furthermore they have little protection from UVA).

I have been using this lip balm for the last few years and have found it to be indispensable when skiing, as I also apply it to my cheeks and nose for extra protection (from the cold and sun) several times a day. I feel comfortable applying the ingredients directly to my skin. |
