Well I love the eye liner shadow but the actual shadow...what a nightmare!!!!!
This stuff (violet sky) in awful to blend, takes too much time, ends up all over my face and then after I have spent a good 20 mins it only lasts 1 hour before it's in my creases!!!
Where am I going wrong?????
Yes I have primed and I used the Jane Iredale brushes with it. How does everyone else go on with the Bare Escentuals eye shadows?

Rosebud - I haven't tried the BE eyeshadow yet because I was afraid of the application being difficult and messy. However, it gets great reviews here overall so there must be something to that as well. I have only recently started using loose eyeshadows and it took me a bit of time to get the hang of it. I believe the trick is to work the eyeshadow into the brush you're using (swirl & tap) and only then apply it to the eyelid with a rather light hand. I use my GA and Stila loose eyeshadows this way and it works very well (I used to get it all over my face as well, but not anymore).

I'm not sure about the lasting power of the BE eyeshadows. I recall reading the the BE glimmers last very well but I'm not sure if that's the same product or not.

Mabsy gives some good tips on applying the mineral eyeshadows. I have read, but haven't tried, using the shadows wet to achieve longer lasting color. Of course, this would make the eye shadow colors more intense, too. I have never used the liners, but I use mineral eyeshadow as liner all the time (BE Drama is gorgeous as a liner for my dark brown eyes).

I've only got the glimmers, but I work them into the brush in the lid and the apply to my lids. Any fall out is removed by a sharp upward blow!

I also apply to wet lids, it's very technical, spit on yur finger and slik your lid. Apply shadow very fast! Looks lovely!

Dunno 'bout regular shadows tho Confused

Oh Liz,
you do paint a vivid picture in my mind. Not a pretty sight. However I find the spit method for applying my mineral eyeliner works better than when I use water for some weird reason. Must be a better texture. yukky though.

Hey Mabsy,

I saw some gorgeous STila eyeshadows at sephora and I saw you mentioning this brand.

Could you tell me a little more about them? Are they good, do they last long, do they smudge?

Thankies!

Aga & Rosebud - I like Stila eyeshadows because of how finelly milled they are, while still having plenty of pigment. They're also easy to blend and do not fade. Some of them *do* crease but the shadow pots do not. This morning at around 7am I applied my makeup and used my Stila Studio Favorite All Over Shimmer Palette to apply just a wash of #9 over the lid. It's now 7:30pm and looking in the mirror the shimmer is still intact. I didn't use a primer this morning.
