Has anyone ever used a Chi Exerciser? I know Judy Marshall has one but can't seem to get in touch with her.
My ankle injury is: Posterior Tibial Tendonitis. I have heard that the Chi Exerciser can help with pain and circulation to the area. There is not much hope for my ankle having a full recovery but I will be darned if I give up. I miss so much my long walks. I do put an ankle brace on my foot so I can take Maggie and Winnie for walk. My final option is to have my ankle fused. Just not ready to do that. Foot surgery is very tricky and I could end up in more of a mess.

Yes, I remember Judy talking about her Chi Machine. Sounded intriguing.
I started doing qigong (chi kung) just 4 months ago and love it. This increases and moves the chi (qi) in the body and I am amazed at how wonderful and effective it is. 4 months isn't very long for results but I have made it through the winter without a cold or flu which is amazing considering the nasty ones I was exposed to. Also my track record for the past 2 years has been about every 2 months for a bad cold or flu excepting the summer months.
I am patiently waiting for my asthma to improve but since I've had it all my life, I know I'll probbaly have to be VERY patient. lol
But a side effect of the chi kung is a slowing down or arresting of the aging process. Most practitioners have beautiful luminous skin.
O yes, another thing that's suppose to help with general health & slowing down/arresting the aging process is to eat 2 umeboshi plums a day. Who knows if it works or not but it does alkalinize the blood which is a wonderful bonus and also it increases saliva in which is found an antiaging hormone. I know qigong increases saliva and old Chinese texts always point to increased saliva as a desirable manifestation. Sorry to go on and on but it is so interesting to me. Hard to quell my enthusiasm. |

Well, I did some more research and ordered a Chi Exerciser. Certainly, I am not getting the exercise I need with a bum foot. I will let you know what I think of it when I have used it for some time. I got my best deal from Overstock.com for the Chi 2000 Deluxe. |

I got my Chi Exerciser 2000!!! LOVE IT! Several months ago Judy Marshall mentioned it to me. She said it helped her ankle so much after she injured it badly. Let me tell you, I have been in Physical Therapy for 5 months. Not one day since have I been pain free. I have not been able to walk my dogs more then a block. When I go to the mall I wear a brace on my ankle. Since the very first 15 minute session with the Chi 2000 I just felt GOOD. After doing it my whole body tingled and I felt relaxed and refreshed. Thursday I went shopping and spend the whole day I my feet going from store to store as I am giving my living room a facelift. My ankle was very tired when I got home but did not hurt. During my day of shopping I did not wear a brace just my orthodics.
My husband is not one to rave about anything. I got him to use the exerciser and he loves it. He has bad knees and gets lower back pain. He said that he felt great after his session.
The Chi is not only for an injury. It is a passive arobic exerciser.
Thank you so much Judy for telling me about this. I got mine on Overstock.Com and got a great deal. Honestly, I would pay double for it as I feel the best I have in a long time. Just pray it last.

Are umeboshi plums a specialty product? Please explain. Can you get them in supermarkets?
Thanks,

they're like sour japanese plums. they've been fermented.
try your local health food store? like whole foods if you have one?
i dunno if supermarkets have them yet, tho they are starting to have those like organic food sections so go check in there.
make sure they're UNPASTEURIZED otherwise they've been cook and are just food instead of superfood |

Winnie,
I had to wait until next day to get my chi machine. Blooming neighbours were out all night. Then I had to get a special plug today. AAArrrggghhhh. All is well now. I aligned my chi earlier, it was weird.
I used it in bedroom and apparantly the vibrations were making a loud noise downstairs and my husband thought I had some sort of sex toy going. Well he was to be disappointed when he poked his head round bedroom door.
I am chuffed actually because I actually received the next one up to the one I ordered for no extra cost, it has infrared massage for feet, neck and shoulders. I can't wait to try out everything. I might let hubby use it if he is very nice to me. |

Lori I can picture it all now. I bet you hubby was quite excited to see what was going on in your room. Lucky you getting all the bells and whistles. Please let me know how you enjoy swimming like a fish. My Scottie, Winnie loves it when I do my Chi Exerciser. No matter where he is he comes running and sits right beside me until I am done. I keep wondering what he likes about it

swim like a fish
I think I need to read instructions. I'm a bit of a plug and go girl. I always read the important stuff after I have used something and then want to check if I have done it right.
Which is why once when putting the feet on a wardrobe my friend and I put together we actually put the door handles on thinking they were the feet. Then we found the real feet when looking for the handles. Talk about bodge-it and scarper, we peed ourselves laughing. Anyhow as usual I digress. I will read the instruction manual thoroughly.
Will keep you updated

Swim like a fish is actually the natural way your body moves when using the Chi Exerciser. |

I like it a lot. I use it in bedroom and it makes the ceiling vibrate & they all keep running upstairs to see what I am doing. Mine also has a neck and shoulder massage facility but I have not tried that yet. It is very relaxing. |

So I looked at the link. What does this machine actually do? vibrate your ankles? Does your calf touch the machine? Did you get bored with it after a few weeks or did it really make you feel good? |

freefall2,
I am still loving my Chi Exerciser!!! If circulation is your problem it would help lots. After my 15 min. session my whole body tingles. Where I don't get the exercise I used to (ankle) the Chi helps a lot. My ankle is far less painful then it was since I have been using the Chi (helped more then months of Physical Therapy). I sleep better too. My husband also likes the Chi (asthma). When he uses it he feels much better as he gets more oxygen. I really can't say enough about this little powerhouse. What I like most is that you do nothing but lie there and relax. Judy Marshall recommended this to me a long time ago. I have bought countless piece of exercise equipment over the years but the Chi is one I will use daily and not get tired of it. It is like having a massage.
BTW It totally relieved my neck tension!
Judy told me that Clark Enterprise makes the best one. Now, I don't know much about that. However, I got an awesome deal from Overstock.com. It so happens that Clark has come out with a multi speed Chi. I got my $350.00 one speed Chi for $149.00.

Winnie: This may be a silly question but the machine is on your ankles and the vibrations can be felt in your necK?! Or just that it relaxes you overall so your neck feels better. I love massages if something reasonable in your homw could give that feeling I'd jump for it. |

Ok, so I got one of these babies as well last week Not exactly the same one, but it is supposed to do the same thing.
I have used it twice for 15 minutes each time now and while I do find it relaxing, I'm not that convinced of any other benefits of it thus far. Still, I shall persevere and see how I feel about it in about a week's time. I shall report back |

I still haven't bought one of these. I was getting close when a new friend/neighbor let me try her Ceragem. It is a massage bed and the only similarity is that it uses eastern healing principals.
This is from their webpage:
CERAGEM is a thermal massager that combines massage, Ceragem pressure with Radiant Infrared heated jade (moxibustion effect) and Epoxy Carbon Panel. It is the first and only machine that unblocks one's energy channel and relaxes muscles around the spine, improving blood and Qi circulation as the roller projectors move along the body.
Eastern Medicine Techniques
CERAGEM combines technology with many traditional principles of Eastern medicine such as moxibustion and Ceragem pressure to massage and soothe the body's "distress signals," such as pain and stress. While Ceragem pressure kneads and relaxes, moxibustion directs heat to every part of the body, stimulating circulation and relieving muscle tension.
Epoxy Carbon Panel
The Epoxy Carbon Panel is capable of releasing heat, which provides maximum benefit to the human body, with rapid heat absorption. The result is increased Qi and blood circulation, along with a feeling of deep relaxation.
I love this thing but I doubt I'll be buying one, I'm guessing they are expensive. My friend says I'm welcome to drop in and use hers anytime so I use it nearly every day. I'm suffering from 2 herniated disks in my neck and another plus a bone spur in my mid-back. This machine, along with traction and anti-inflammatories, provides me with a lot of relief. |

US$2,700 each. It's developed in Korea and some parts were made in Japan I think. I believe they have about 160 retail locations all over the United States. You can go there any time using it for free. I know some people go daily. My dad gave me one last year as my birthday gift. I do it twice a day. I have herniated disk on my neck and maybe one on my lower back too. I feel relaxed after each use but I don't know if it has the "medical cure" function for long term use. |

This CERAGEM thingy sounds so nice! I won't be getting one either but it sure beats my Chi machine by the sounds of things.
And, to update, I have been using my Chi machine twice daily (most days anyway). I'm still finding it very relaxing, there might be a bit of benefit for my back (also herniated disks here *raises hand*) though I do need to stretch it before getting up or it feels a bit strange... I am yet to feel the whole body tingling/energy rush sensation that some of the Chi exerciser sites describe - though my mum says she gets it each time she uses the machine. |

It is hard to explain sharky but you put your ankles in the Chi and your whole body sways (kind of like a fish swimming). I have never tired of this machine. I LOVE it. When I concentrate on my breathing I get the most benefit from the Chi. There are certain positions you use to get the most benefit for your neck. When my neck is tight I hold my stomach in and put my chin to my chest so the whole back of my neck is on the mat. I highly recommend using a mat while using the Chi Exerciser. I find that when I did it on a rug my body was not as mobile. On hard flooring I was uncomfortable.
Mabsy, I do think you will notice the tingling sensation if you concentrate on you breathing. For me the breathing technique came natural as I have on and off practiced meditation for a long time. After your finished your session be sure to stay in a reclined position, continue concentrating on your breathing and enjoy the awesome sensation.
BTW: It is nice to read your posts ladies. Quick update: My Grandson is fine. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. I do not have to have surgery on my ankle. If I decided to go ahead with surgery the surgeon would have to fuse my whole foot. The recovery is LONG and arthritis would eventually set in. The good news is I had a brace custom made. With the brace I have no pain and have regained my freedom. |

Winnie that is fantastic news that the brace is helping so much! The doggies must be so happy that you can walk them without suffering.
That must have been terrifying when your grandson was ill. I hadn't been on the site in ages so I had to find the thread about him. Thank goodness he came through it.
I'm really impressed that you are still using the chi exerciser all the time. It's been nearly a year and statistically by now it should be collecting dust under the bed beside the rowing machine or in the garage tucked behind the stationary bike that is used to hang laundry on. So, it must be that good! I'll keep it in mind if we move away from here and our friend's Ceragem. I was on it last night after dinner. I'm about to get into my traction device and do some knitting. |
