Every year during winter, my red skin hurts so much sometimes that I don't talk to anybody when I go outside and my lips are over dry and chapped because of cold, sometimes they even bleed (because they are slightly burst open). When I exfoliate them with my toothbrush and some water, they swell a lot and I feel like they are burning. What do you use to exfoliate your lips? |

First don't use your toothbrush anymore, it might be too harsh for your lips and that's why they are swell or at least use a really old one. Plus, if you look for exfoliating lips tips, you can find bunch of them through google and you will see that you're not alone having this kind of issue because there are a lot of threads talking about that. My favorite DIY lip exfoliator is a mix of honey and sugar that you rub on your lips with a pad, it's so easy and cheap!
For your dry skin, I am sure that you only use a simple moisturizer instead of using a heavy SPF50+ sunscreen which would really protect your skin from burn. Among the ones I use My favorite one is the Dr. IASO Sun Protection and I like the Nivea moisturizing suncreen (a bit sticky) and the Sunscreen Care Oil Spray SPF30+ that you can use it for your hair as well (a little bit oily and greasy though). Maybe you can find the one which could fits to you here. |

Try to find a cream for breast feeding mothers (nipple cream). They work brilliantly on sore lips with broken skin. Just ask at your local chemist. |

I personally try to stay away from chemical based products, and I suffer from very chapped lips in the winter time as well. Two things, hydrate better by drinking water and eating more fruit, and secondly apply coconut oil to the dry skin spots you have like your lips. |

I started using Nivea creme (in the blue pot) this winter. I love it. It is thick and greasy and it made me nervous at first. But miraculously my skin has cleared, and for the first time in a long time, no chapped lips! They sell it in a mini tin for 99 cents if you just wanted to use it as a lip balm. |

You can choose the essence oil, many brands have good essence oil, usually oil is more moisturizing than skin cream. |

God i have super chapped lips because of my iron deficiency and its really not fun, then i started using lip sleeping masks which really helped. Before it was cracking and splitting but now, that happens less and less! |

It's like a mask but you put it on your lips before you go to sleep. It hydrates your lips throughout the night and you get super soft lips in the morning. i've been using Canola oil lip sleeping mask by Innisfree (A Korean brand) recently if you want a recommandation. But if you only apply that is not enough. It's best to apply lip balm regularly during the day as well. |
