Hi! long time no post! Laughing
I just returned to Ottawa from home, Vancouver! I just realized how much better my skin was in Vancouver... i've just got here (ottawa) for 2 days and i can tell a difference in my skin!! its starting to break out again and my nose and the area beside my nose is loaded with black heads!!!! (my skin cleared up quite a bit in Vancouver! even when i was putting make up on almost everyday vs. no make up at all in ottawa)

I have heard lots of good things on Dr. H's Cleansing Cream and Normalizing Oil... I am planning on switching to Dr. H's line for troubled skin... i read their pamphlet, they recommended 1) Cleansing Cream 2) Clarifying Toner 3) Normalizing Oil and at night, after toning, use Rythmic Night Conditioner for 2 weeks or something...

did you guys used this line before? do i have to use the Rythmic Night Cond?

I have the normal toner, the cleansing cream (and lotion) and a few of the moisturisers and masks. I have also used the Rhythmic Night Conditioner in the past and only now use it every few months for 28-days.

I really like the cleansing cream - this is by far my favorite item in the Dr Hauschka line and one of my favorite cleansers overall.

I don't think you have to use the Rhythmic Night Conditioner, although they suggest that you do when you first switch to Dr Hauschka products. I started using just the cleansing cream and then caved and bought the RNC. I liked it and I saw improvement in my skin (as have a few other people who have reviewed it here in the past) and I liked it enough to now use it as a refresher course every 3 months or so. I don't think it's an essential step though, the other products will work without it.

I agree with Mabsy, I don't think the Rythmic Night Conditioner is an essential step. I started the entire Dr. H regimin months ago, and I skipped the conditioner because this line was breaking my bank as it was!! I use the cleansing cream, clarifying toner and normalizing day oil every day. I did experience VERY mild breakouts while adjusting to the line (which is normal), but I was getting so many compliments on how great my skin looked it didn't bother me much! The Dr. H product's really took the redness out of my face and my skin looks much better. Bottom line: if you have the money, I hear the Rythmic Night Conditioner is good, but it isn't necessary. If you want to purchase some extras, I would recommend the clay mask and facial steam bath and perhaps the rejuvenating mask.

2 questions from me.

How exactly do you use the cleansing cream realistically ?? I tried once, pressing it on my face, it's a mess and didn't feel like it's really cleaning my face, and are you supposed to use it everyday ??

The conditioner, do you use it as a toner, do you put moisturizer over it ? or do you just put it on by itself ??? and how does it make your skin feel the day after ?
Thx,
D

OK, the cleansing cream -- you are supposed to 'massage' it into your face using your fingers. I try to do that but sometimes I get antsy and just rub it in with my hands, and I haven't experienced any ill effects from that (at least that I know of.)

As far as the conditioner, you are supposed to use it at night after you cleanse your face. You use it in place of toner, and you wear no moisturizer over it. I have never used it, but I have heard people say anything from they can't tell a difference to their skin feels great the next day.

for the cleansing cream, gently press and release the cream all over your face using either just your fingers or your fingers+palms. no rubbing, no scrubbing!

yes, this method sounds like it might not do much by way of cleaning, but it does. i also believe that the cleansing cream is supposed to be the 2nd step in the cleansing process...you're supposed to start w. the cleansing milk to remove the surface grimies + makeup.

just think of the pressing+releasing motion as 1) a suction effect for deeper cleansing
2) massaging effect for better lymph drainage+circulation

Sorry, more questions about the conditioner, can you use it on the eye area too ? and does it smell ? Do you HAVE to use it for 28 days continuously ? Will it be moisturizing enough to be used alone ?

Question Question Question

so to my understanding... the Dr. H line do not suggest you to use a night cream? just cleanser then toner?

aprilha: correct. The dr. h philosophy is that the skin should 'breathe' at night, so moisturizer is only to be used during the day. The ryhthmic night conditioner is very light and watery, so it shouldn't feel like you are using a moisturizer at night. Dr. h recommends cleansing and toning at night, and if you are using the night conditioner it is to be used in place of a toner.

Thx Chimera...

just curious though... since i live in ottawa and ottawa is a VERY cold place... therefore heat is turned on HIGH... which i find very dehydrating...

do you know if just cleansing and toning will be enough for the high heat and cold weather in ottawa? (i am already dehydrated)

That's a good question. I live in NYC, and while it gets cold -- it doesn't get THAT cold! You might want to look into a seperate night cream if you feel like it might be an issue.

The RNC does not have any particular type of scent (although I vaguely recall smelling faint rose one day I think). I do use it around the eye area - all over the face basically. I was a bit sceptical with the "no moisturiser at night" but my skin didn't feel dry. If you're sleeping with the heater on though then it might be a different story. You'll just have to try it for a few days and see how you go. The Dr H Cleansing Cream does not strip my face of moisture and it does leave it feeling comfortable. If you use the RNC with another cleanser then the RNC by itself may not be enough.

Btw, I also use the Dr H Cleansing Cream in a kneading/pressing motion as from what I gather this is what gets rid of the crap in your pores (and that works *so* well on me!). You have to use this on a clean face - this is not meant to remove makeup.

I got this site from one fo the MUA posting, OMG, the price are unbelievable, the cleansing cream is only USD$9. Has anyone ordered from this site before ?? They are in Germany, and don't offer free shipping for US, but with the steep discount, it's still worth it.

....but I am always scared to order from new site, anyone knows about this site ?

Thanks in advance Very Happy

rejuvenating mask is only about US$20, and the lip balm is about $6. If the site is really trustworthy, then this is heaven for me. I recently fell in love with their products. Also, has anyone tried their eye balm ? any feedbacks ?

Diderot, wow, thanks for this. Very Happy Very Happy I'm going to definitely check it out.

I have ordered from a German site before http://www.vitalversand.de/ because the prices are fantastic Very Happy , but that particular site only delivers within Germany (it worked out at the time cos my mum was visiting family over there). I've been meaning to find another German site which ships internationally, so thanks for saving me the hassle!

The only thing I would say is that the packaging and instructions are most likely to be in German.

I need to restock my CC soon, so this is perfect timing. Thanks again diderot! Cool

I found a few German sites with EXCELLENT Hauschka prices. I was worried about the packages going through customs, though. You can be charged to pick up your package!!!! It might make the discount and the hassle not worth while. Please, if anyone from the US has had success ordering from Germany let me know how it worked out. Smile

Chimera, it happened to me one time, I was standing at the post office (Thinking if I should pay the penalty or forget it....)..... and the shipping fee from this german company (to US) is outrageous....USD$38 for 1.4KG ?? don't remember last time I paid this much for shipping.... Crying or Very sad what should I do ??

diderot, yeah the prices are jump up and down material for sure . AND shipping to the UK is only 7 euros . It sucks about the $38 to the US though Sad Maybe you could order the entire line so that the saving over what you'd pay at home will make up for the outrageous postage. Wink Laughing

I'll probably place an order this week, so I'll let you know how it goes. Very Happy

I had found a place with somewhat reasonable shipping to the US -- but there was no gaurantee and no insurance if I didn't get my package! Not to mention an unpredictable customs charge. If I were to order I'd want to stock up for the entire year -- still not sure it's a risk I am comfortable taking. :/
