Hi,
I've been using Differin gel for my acne for the last 2 years. It worked well in the past, but recently, it hasn't been doing a good job in clearing up the pimples around my chin and on my back.
It's really weird, but, I ONLY break out in those 2 areas. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm ready to toss the Differin gel in favor of something else. I've read a ton of reviews on this board for Yonka, Dermalogica, MD Formulations, etc. but am still confused as to which product I should try.
FYI:
I've got combination skin. My chin/nose tends to be more oily than the rest of my face. I'd like to spot-treat my acne, AND also prevent new breakouts.
I'm going to stick to my Cetaphil cleanser, but would be willing to try a new overnight treatment product (instead of the Differin gel).
Can you recommend a nighttime product? Also, how about something that I can use on my back (under my clothes) during the day?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, sorry for the long post.

MDF makes a body spray with Glycolic Acid which is meant to help treat/prevent acne in the hard to reach places (like, say, your back ).
In terms of the face, I have found YonKa Juvenil to be very good as well as MDF Clearing Complex. Btw, do you exfoliate regularly or use anything with BHAs or AHAs in it that might help with the breakouts? |

Hi Mabsy,
Thanks for your suggestions.
Yes I exfoliate approx. 3 days a week. But I don't use anything with BHA or AHA. Should I give this a try?
Thanks,

I had VERY good results with my acne when I started using MD Forte (BTW I ONLY get acne on my chin area too!) The cleanser isn't too expensive, I think level 1 is only $18 and it really helped clear up most of my acne. Now, I started the lotion as well which has made me pretty much acne free, but I'm going to cut back on that because I'm afraid of using too much AHA on my face. But, the cleanser I use twice a day no problem, no irritation at all (just a slight tingle on the chin area, which I like because I know it's working!) and it helped soooooo much! |

I suffer badley from bouts of acne on my chin.
What cleared it up (I had people telling me how nice my skin was) was
*large doses of vit A 32000 IU (Ignore the doctor) until you notice a difference then gradually reduce, 97% of people with acne have a vit A difficiency.
*Zinc 50 mg for 3/4 months then halve (makes you dead horney as well)
* Good B Complex
Diet - lots of veg, fruit, fish etc
My boyfriend did this with me, he suffered badly, all his back was covered since the age of 12 and his face was bad too, he had loads of creams, gels washes from the doctors - all in the bin now. His back and face have now been clear for about a year.
And no with have had no liver problems - have a read of Dr Atkins vitamin book I think it's called vita nutrients - it's nothing like his diet books (I don't eat much meat).
Hope this helps, I know what its like to suffer, i tried everything - i even used to fry in the sun with no sunscreen to get my acne to heal. |
