It dries my skin out like crazy, even without the mineral veil, and I also find that it accentuates flakes etc.But still, I love the dewy finish, and would not like sth. completely matte.

I am contemplating trying out either GloMinerals or Jane Iredale (where GM is the most tempting, considering I can get it here, right around the corner). But how is the finish of those two? Mabsy???? You have tried both, which is the most covering, which is the least matte, etc. And should I go for loose or pressed?

Well, to me the finish of the JI and the GloMinerals is very natural but not completely matte. The two are very similar to each other in the finish and the quality btw. However, BE IMO gives a rather pearly finish and you're not going to get that from the JI or the GloMinerals. I think if you have GloMinerals available to you around the corner then you should definitely go and have a play with the testers (if testers are available).

I prefer the pressed base as it's easier to get the right amount on my Jane Iredale Handi brush (which has a flat base of bristles). It's also easier to travel with Smile

Oh, btw, I always set mineral makeup with a face spritz otherwise my face feels a bit dry. I think this is normal (unless you have oily skin) as you're putting on powder in place of a liquid foundation which has some amount of moisture. So, I need to either up the moisturiser or set with a spritz. I prefer the spritz option because it makes my skin look flawless and seems to (could be just an illusion) make my makeup last longer.

Thanks! I think I'll go and look at the testers (before ordering on EDS Wink , the prices here are ridiculous!), and I'll consider getting a spritz, too. Which one is best, and is not sticky?

And I think I'll go with the pressed base, because it's practical for travelling. I'm going away for one week now, and it's no way I'm taking the BE foundation stuff with me.

Unfortunately all powders are drying to the skin. It doesn't matter whos it is or what ingredients are in them or whether they are talc or mineral based. They just dry your skin out. Powders are suited for younger skins. I think tinted moisturizers with a bit of concealer where needed is sufficient for older ladies and looks more dewy looking. Neutral

Well, I'm hardly an "older lady", although my skin has been dry since childhood. Glycolic acid has helped with the dryness, and I have no problems with ordinary powders (use Kanebo and Versace), only with the Bare Escentuals foundation.

I have tried TM, but don't like the sticky consistency of it.

I'm 40 and very recently tried the Bare Escentuals mineral veil and the multi-tasking mineral...I was astounded by how natural the look was...I didn't get any sort of cakiness...and my eye area actually looked better than **I can't believe I'm going to say this** - how my eye area looks when I use my LMercier stuff (AAGHH!!)...I'm ordering a pile of mineral stuff tomorrow! The minerals will definitely be the way I will go for daytime - no question!

I'm happy for you, Pudoodles Very Happy I started using BE in the summer, and really liked it, but suddenly, my skin started looking more and more dry when I was using it. So I put it away for a few months, and have tried using it again a few times this week.

I am going away next week, and will give it a real test then, as I'm planning not to bring anything else, foundationwise.

It's just me and my skin being picky...I have lots of friends using BE without problems, even with dry skin. I was the one starting the rave, and also the one who had to stop using it... Neutral

My skin tends to go in phases with BE mineral foundation. Sometimes I can wear it and it looks fab and others it looks as though I have aged by 10 years!!

BTW I notice you are from Norway Nemi - such a beautiful place, the company I work for has a smelting plant in Norway which my colleague and I were lucky enough to visit and I fell in love with the place! Keep meaning to learn the lingo but never got round to it other than a few words!

Hi, Cheeks Smile
Where is that? I live far up north (though I'm originally from the coast further south), and I really like it here, except for the weather which tends to be bad at times.

I keep thinking that maybe I shouldn't shell out the cash for another brand of MMU, and use the BE for what it's worth, that is, when my skin can take it. Normally, I'm quite happy with wearing only concealer and loose powder, plus bronzer, of course. Why change a winning team?

Hi Nemi

The plant is in Odda, do you know it? It sits almost in the middle of a Fjord and the views to all sides are spectacular Very Happy

I know what you mean about using what you've paid for, that's why I keep going back and using my BE stuff, although as I posted before, I couldn't live without my BE warmth!

I know about Odda, have seen pictures of that place, and it used to have a lot of industries. Generally, there are many beautiful places in Norway, even here in Tromsoe, where I live. You can drive for less than an hour, and suddenly, there are glaciers and reindeer nearby Very Happy

As for the BE; I will continue using it on and off, and probably buy a tester kit with 5.2 for the summer (I'm using 2.3 now, which is a tad too light for me).
