I was a bit hesitant to try this since many people said it can be drying, but I am so glad I did. I have been using it for a week, and LOVE it. I use it at night before applying the Skin Prep, Alphaderma CE, and then my olive oil night cream. When I wake up the next morning, my skin is so smooth, soft, and glowing. And in just a week, I notice my skin is more even-toned. Less red ruddiness on the cheeks.
So dry-skinned girls....if you moisturize anyway, I wouldn't worry about trying this product. It is a bit pricey, but I think it is truly worth every penny.

I totally agree and even sensitive skinned girls like me can get away with it!! I use it everyday and my skin is smoother and softer than ever!!! The granuals in it are very fine and seem to disolve as you massage it into your skin but there is still enough "grit" to make you feel like it's doing something. It's probably my fave Dermalogica product (along with ultra calming cleanser). |

Oooh and about what Lori said regarding the price, I've had my container for almost 6 months now (did I mention I use it everyday ) and it's still not empty so it's definately worth the money. Plus another great thing I forgot to mention, because you mix the powder with water yourself you can make it as harsh or gentle as you like. |

Hi there!
May I know if I need to wet my face before applying the Dermalogica Microfoliant powder even though i have already made it into a paste with my wet hands? |

I do (only damp skin) but I don't think you actually need to. I guess it depends on how wet your hands are and what you find comfortable. |

I apply the paste to my dry skin and massage it over my face. Then I let it sit for 1 minute. Then I wet my hands and massage it in some more.
I think you can use it on damp or dry skin. It is just what you prefer. Try it both ways and see what you like best.

I use it in the shower so my face is already damp but like the others said, which ever is most comfortable for your skin. I sometimes leave it sit for a minute or so and then massage again as well, just depends how my skin is feeling (I usually only do that once a week as my skin can be sensitive). |

about how much did you guys pay for it? Seems like a cool product, always hearing about it and now im dying to buy it!! but it seems wayyy expensive! how come u guys use it at night? if it makes ur face clean and bright why not use it during the day so ppl can see! hehe
Do u cleanse first, then exfoliate then tone then moisturise??(is that the process.. i dont usually exfoliate)..
Also i heard the product can be somewhat dryin, can i use active moist with it or do i have to use intensive moisture balance??
I'm also purchasing a hydrating booster, will that help the active moist out a bit? |

To be honest I don't really know why I use it at night, just a habit I guess. I'm always running late in the mornings so my skin care routine is rushed. I bought it from EDS for about AU$63 I think (retail is about AU$77).
My evening routine is cleanse, exfoliate, tone and then moisturise. If I do a mask I put it on after the exfoliant but before the toner. And if I use a booster or serum I put it before the moisturiser.
I occasionally find microfoliant a little bit drying (if my skin is having a sensitive day) but generally it just leaves my face feeling super soft. It will depend on your skin type as to whether active moist is enough, but if you're using the hydrating booster underneath it you should be fine. |

What's the difference between the microfoliant and the skin prep? I've tried the skin prep and love this stuff, I just thought this was an exfoliater. ![Question](images/smiles/question.gif) |

Skin prep is WAAAAAY more coarse than Microfoliant. Microfoliant is a white powder with smaller granuals and some gentle AHA's that you can use every day. You just mix it in your hand with a little bit of water or add it to your normal cleanser. It's better for people with more sensitive skin as it's not so abrasive. |

It's funny how our skins can respond so differently to these products, I felt like I was grating my face off with skin prep!! |

Good to seeyou are enjoying your Daily Microfoliant Princesita! It is lovely isnt it? The main difference Rosebud, is that Daily Microfoliant is not so much a manual scrub type exfoliator like Skin Prep...but has that chemical exfoliation ( BHA) action which gives it extra oomph over time.
I sometimes wonder ( I am probably wrong!) whether it is always rinsed off well enough when someone finds it drying. That chemical action will slightly continue if it's not rinsed off very, veryyyyy well. I can feel a difference if I get a bit slack and skimp on all the splashes of water when I have removed it. I remove it with a sea sponge and warm water first and then rinse like mad!
Like you said too... moisturise right after and it will be fine!
I think it's probably recommended more for a nighttime thing because you are very slightly removing top layer dead skin and whatever you put on after will absorb better, so night treatments after are good. If you did it in the morning... then threw on your makeup it would defeat the purpose a little bit. As with an exfoliator it can leave a little bit of very temporary pinkness, that is another reason that if done at night there is no concern about that whatsoever. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

this is a holy grail for me.
I use Daily Microfoliant daily, except for twice a week where I use Gentle Cream Exfoliant. My skin is looking great.
Muzzle, I think you are right when you say that people might not be rinsing it off thoroughly when they are feeling dry. Skin Prep Scub is a manual exfoliant and Daily Microfoliant is much softer and with chemical exfoliants too.
Has anyone tried the new exfoliator from Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer? I saw something on it in the Canadian Elle and in Lucky |

No I haven't tried Daily Resurfacer yet. I'm scared I'll end up with another "must have" Has anyone with more sensitive skin tried it, I'm also worried it might be a little harsh for my skin? |

I bought a tub of the Daily Resurfacer and used the entire tub. I never saw any difference in my skin in any way. Nothing negative, I just think it was just too mild for my skin since I had previously used Microfoliant and products with higher AHA's. I usually love all the Dermalogica products but this one was a disappointment. Maybe the sensitive gals would love it. Hope this helps!

Rosebud: I have to agree. I LOVE the Skin Prep scrub and for me anyway the microfoliant doesn't hold a candle to it. Skin prep leaves that great smooth feeling after exfoliating that the microfoliant doesn't on me. Sometimes I mix the skin prep with my cleanser if I want a lighter exfoliant. The Microfoliant feels okay to use, sort of like rubbing in what I image a baking soda paste would be like if it lightened in texture as you used it.
I've wanted to love the Microfoliant, but it is really too drying on my skin after I use it instead of giving me that smooth wonderful feeling that the Skin Prep does. I moisturize after using either, but I feel that I am way ahead results-wise even before moisturizer with the Skin Prep.
So many adore the Microfoliant though so it must be wonderful for many skin types and preferences, but not my own. I do suspect that because you mention that you don't find the Skin Prep scrubby enough that you probably won't prefer the Microfoliant over it as your exfoliator. If you get a chance and there is a Pure Beauty store or somewhere similar where you know for certain there is a good return policy near you where you can pick up the Microfoliant, you might pick it up and try it briefly. As long as you definitely can return it if it isn't the product for you. It is a little less complicated to return to those places than doing all the mailing back and forth. Perhaps they might even have a sample or can make you one. |

Check out E-bay. They sell the smaller "Travel" size. I also saw someone selling samples of all Dermalogica products. 5 samples for $1.50 or something.
It's worth a try and will save you from investing in the expensive full-size product before you even know if you like it.

I wholeheartedly 2nd everything pincesita said! I've my bottle since last year and there is still plenty left! I also agree with how nice it is to be able to control how strong or mild an exfoliant it will be by how much water you add. I also love that it rinses clean. My face would be uber soft when I used this. |

Yes myztic, it's definately possible to scrub too hard, even on skin that isn't sensitive. Over-scrubbing strips the skin of its own natural oils and therefore makes you more prone to irritation and breakouts. There is a fine line between safe exfoliation and damaging the skin. I don't know whether that would be the cause of the capilaries sticking out tho??? I thought that was just to do with how close they are to the surface of your skin... Hopefully someone else will be able to shed more light on that. But definately go easy on the scrubbing!! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Hiya, Myztic,
Oh, yes, you can definitely scrub too hard. Be sure to add enough water to it to make a softer grainy paste if it is too rough for you and do not rub it onto your face. Pretend that your skin is a big rose petal that you don't want to damage. Just use light circular motions. It sounds like you irritated your face, but I am not sure about capillaries sticking out. Perhaps you just scrubbed to hard and now you have broken ones...take it easy on the exfoliant and avoid exfoliating in that area until it is healed. Try a soothing/healing product on the area like Decleor Oil, Prickly Apple Caviar Face Cream..I'm sure the lovely ladies here can suggest others. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

well only one seems to be sticking out... but not out.. its just more noticeable like a slight scratch on the face.. but its not big at all.. will it go away itself in time? or is there any home remedy i can use...? dont wanna go and buy somethin for it.. skin care is becoming too expensive with all the things that i want to buy! |
