I am going to order some Jane Iredale products but I can't decide what free gist to order. Do I go for the Antioxidant Hydration spray or the Lip Gloss in Candid Rose (which is exactly my colouring)
Has anyone used the Antioxidant - does is really live up to it's claims??? |

Hi there,
I'd go with the mist.....only because the hardcore powder mineral users that I've come across on the Board use sprays of some sort to set the powder and offset any dryness...I think you can use this product on top of the mineral powder, no?

You can get great lip gloss almost anywhere, so my choice would be the mist also...

I would go for the lip gloss, only because those hydration mists mostly contain water and very little of any thing else that would benefit skin. And everyone knows that water dehydrates the skin. |

I thought that it was a myth that water dehydrates the skin....how does it dehydrate the skin? I don't get it...do you mean that it is actually bad for your skin?

Hello Pudoodles! I don't believe its a myth. Its a well known fact that spraying ANYTHING on your face with water would dry out the skin. On the other hand, if you would apply a moisturizer over that immediately, that would seal the moisture in. I'm only talking about spraying over powder and leaving it at that.
If a person really wants to seal, why not just take a COLD, damp cloth and press over the mineral powder. That works well too. |

The cold damp cloth idea sounds interesting! I'm a new user to the minerals...I might try that! Thanks SusieQ!

Doesn't the damp cloth take some of the makeup off and make it look patchy?
I am considering trying mineral makeup, so am asking so many questions lately! Sorry- Just want to know everything exactly!
Actually, am having trouble getting my hands on any in Australia- does anybody know where to get it (esp. Jane iredale) around Newcastle or Sydney area?
Thanks again guys- all your help very appreciated!

I guess if you're careful not to move the cloth while you press it then it should be fine. I'm not sure about the whole damp cloth though - how is that different to spritzing? You're still putting water on your face, and since you're not using a spritz that might actually have hydrating effects then wouldn't that actually be worse? I have heard of Evian spray drying out the face but that applies to highly airconditioned environments only apparently.
Maddy - I know that in QLD some Terry White chemists have JI. You can contact the JI distributor though (details on the JI website) and they will tell you the closest stockist. I always buy mine online because it's cheaper that way, but finding a stockist is great if you want to match shades or simply don't like shopping on the net. |
