I received an order of skinceuticals today....Serum 15, eye serum,Line Defence and Hydra B5 gel and noticed that the Vitamin C products were not stamped with a "use by" date, although the Hydra B5 was marked as valid til 2007.
This surprised me given the [in]stability issues with Vitamin C products. I know that oxidation is the main problem so as long as the bottles are sealed they are theoretically protected, but surely these products degrade over time too? Has anyone else noticed this?
Also as I use Retin-A at night is it OK to use the Line Defence before applying the Retin-A? Line Defence is basically a 15% solution of Hydroxy acid and is indicated for night time use before moisturizing.
Thanks in advance for any replies! |

I wouldn't use the line defence and retinol on the same night.
skinceuticals retinol says not to use any other products at the same time.
umm...I don't think my serum 10 had an exp. date either... |

I received a bottle of SkinCeuticals C+AHA the other day and there is no expiration date on that bottle either. I didn't notice a date on my Hydrating B5 Gel. My Cellex-C Advanced-C Eye Firming Cream isn't dated either. Maybe this is the norm? |

I'd just count from when you open it...but I'm not sure how long they're expected to last...maybe 5 months? (Just guessing, I really have no clue at all!)

I've read studies posted through this board that suggest that c serum (Cellex C in the instance of this article) maintained a 95% efficacy rate 5 months after opening (it might have been six months)...but who knows these days...science varies (?) *sigh* and I really just don't know anymore..

I always go from when it is opened. However, I don't really know how long they last either. I read somewhere that you should aim to finish a bottle in three months but I'm not sure how reliable that info was and I can't remember where I read that either. I do know that turning orangey is not necessarily a sign of ineffectiveness (although it has gone down) but I just don't like to use serums when they've gone orange - particularly as they tend to stain clothes (especially if you apply it to your neck and then wear a white shirt - thanks so much Cellex-C ). I've noticed that Vivier stays light coloured for a lot longer than Cellex-C so I go with that as I also prefer the texture. |

I wonder how long it is...I find information really unreliable now that I'm taking a stats class and see how some of these studies can be manipulated, or flawed.. |

I go with when it is opened too. My derma told me that they are only good for 6 to 8 months after they are opened.
Hope it helps.

Thanks rose!! =) I'm still on my first bottle so I haven't experienced it going bad yet...
Are there any signs that it's gone bad? |

Has anyone used the Skinceuticals Daily Moisture? Is this safe for acne-prone skin? |

I use daily moisture, it's good for acne prone skin. If you're dehydrated or a bit dry with acne you might need the B5 gel too. |

I'm torn between the Skinceuticals line and the DDF line. Which would be more appropriate for sensitive, acne-prone skin (very large pores).
Thanks |

Can anyone offer any advice between Skinceuticals or DDF for sensitive, acne-prone skin? Can't decide which I should try.
Thanks |

I emailed Skinceuticals about this questions awhile back and they said that they garantee the potency of their c products up to a year after it is opened. |
