I'm about to order a couple of masks, but I'm not sure about which ones.
I'm 21, have combination skin with oily t-zone, blackheads on my nose, sensitive/dry on the chin. It also tends to break out around that time of the month.
First of all I want to order a clay mask/purifying mask. I'm thinking about Dermalogica Skin Refining Mask or Dr Hauschka Cleansing Clay Mask.
I also want to order a hydrating mask or something for sensitive, sunburned or over-exfoliated skin. Should I get Dermalogica MultiVitamin Power Recovery (I'm thinking that this is like the Multivitamin Power Concentrate in a mask form, is that correct?), Dermalogica Skin Hydrating (tried a sample, but it wasn't enough to give an idea of how good it really was) or Valmont Renewing Pack (soooo expensive, but many good reviews on this site). I also consider Dr Hauschka Rejuveniting Mask, even though I'm not so sure about how good this actually is.
Or would you recomend masks from another line?
I also wonder about a Vit C serum. Am I to young to use that? My skin is sun damaged in some areas, and I also have some acne scars.
I read that a lot of you use glycolic cleansers. What are the benefits of those? Is it for exfoliation only? And why do you prefer them over non-glycolic? I'm thinking of MDF, or is there anyone better? Currently most of my skin care is Dermalogica...
Just one last question. What is your favorite glycolic cleanser for the body? And should I also use a body lotion with glycolic acid in it? I have oily skin (acne prone on my back and on my arms)
This become many more questions than I planned it to be. There are so many products out there, and for a newbie like me, it's so hard to find the right products... |

I swear by the Dr H clay mask and also the Rejuvenating mask. The clay mask leaves your pores super clean without drying your skin. And, the result seems to be cumulative. |

I have to agree with KATEE I think the others would agravate the skin. I use both the DH rejuvenating and the clay and they are the only masks I've ever used sucessfully - and with good results.
The Dermalogica were way too harsh for me
Your sensitive skin needs DH |

I'm with Katee -- the Dr. H clay and rejuvenating masks are the way to go. They are the best I have ever used!! If you go with the cleansing clay mask don't forget to get the facial steam bath to use first! |

Ok, Dr H it is then. I've acctually tried the Dermalogica clay mask (just a sample, which made it hard to tell if it works or not). It wasn't too harsh, but didn't clear my skin either. But since you all agree on the Dr H masks, that's what I'll go for.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a glycolic cleanser and vit c serum? |

Yeah, I would also go with the Dr H option, although the Dermalogica power recovery is great as well. Valmont Renewing Pack is fantastic but this is more of a pick-me-up mask than a moisturising mask per se.
In terms of AHA cleansers - yes they are used for exfoliation. I have had really good results with the MDF one but I actually prefer the PCA Skin one (cleanser for problem/oily skin). I found it less drying than the MDF but I am not sure what the difference in % of AHA is.
I think the choice of a vitamin C serum will depend on your skin type. Given your oily t-zone I would suggest that you go for Skinceuticals and start with a 10% serum. There is also an option to get a C+AHA serum which would give you your AHA in one shot. Given that you have sensitive skin in areas, I would just stick with a 10% or lower if you are very sensitive. |

I absolutely adore the Dermalogica Multi-Vit Power Recovery Masque...I especially love to slap it on if I got a little to over-enthusiastic with an exfoliating product (i.e.: Derm Gentle Cream Exfoliator) and given myself some redness/flaky – it really helps to calm and soothe my skin. |

Ive have tried the vitamin mask from Dermalogica and it made me blotchy, I use the skin hydrating mask around the eyes on a morning for a good wake up call and Ive also tried a sample of the Valmont renewing mask but Im afraid that failed to live up to the wow factor that people have given it on here. I like clay masks but Im afraid to use one as they generally cause a few breakouts. Having said that I havent had a chin "breakout" since I have been using the Yonka Juvenil each day, dabbing a bit on before the vivier. |

I think I've decided on what to get now. Finally...
I'll definitly get the two Dr H masks. I'm also going to get the MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque (since I haven't had any sensitive or allergic reaction to any of the other Dermalogica products I've tried). When it comes to a cleanser I'm going for the PCA Skin one (don't want my skin to dry out). Not so sure about the vit c serum though. I read that many people here swear by the Vivier, so it's either that or Skinceuticals.
So many different, and obviously good products here, that I get confused... And of course I'm the of person that wants to try it all... |

Are you going to order your items from EDS? If yes, then you might want to ask for a sample of those Vit-C serums...actually, you should try asking for these samples from whomever you end up ordering from! This would at least give you the opportunity to try both versions and see which formulation you prefer.... |

I would say if you are oilier, go with the skinceuticals serum. |

I agree. If you have drier skin (or normal even) then go with the Vivier, if you have oilier skin then go with the Skinceuticals. |

I hate to be the oddball here. But I have not so good experience with Dr. H cleaning clay mask. It is way toooo harsh. I got redness from using it. It may be my skin, but I dont have a very sensitive skin, it's combo type.
I like DDF clay mask. |
