I have no idea what to suggest to my mom. She's 56 years old. Her skin is congested and very very wrinkly. Only today did she first complain to me about it. I'm not sure if she never noticed it before or if maybe my dad said something to her.
Anyways, I gave her a sample of vit c serum and some decleor vitaroma face cream to try...but that's all I had that I thought she may like.
Can anyone give me suggestions for her??
Oh yes, BTW, she's kinda cheap. I can't see her spending more than $40/$50 on a product |

Hi L, I just started talking skincare with my mom too. She's 55, I'm 35. Her skin is fabulous. People ask if we're sisters a lot - which is kind of annoying because I'm sure that means I look older than I am. I just e-mailed her that my sunspot has faded since I started using vit c serum and she wants to try that too. She has never spent much money on her skin, always used stuff she could pick up at Safeway or London Drugs. I'm going to introduce her to products one at a time so she doesn't get overwhelmed.
A friend of mine here is 58 and has amazing skin. She uses Obagi cleanser and MD Forte Rejuvenating Lotion III. She swears her skin was in bad shape before she started with these products.

I mentioned to my mom that stuff can be expensive and she went off about this Roc product she bought that was so expensive and was crap. I just told her Roc is crap and don't buy crap from a drugstore anymore. Then she looked at avon
I told her to go to a dermatologist but she won't go. I don't understand why because it's covered here. I'm sure a derm would probably put her on obagi or something like that, but she'd probably give up at the purge/severe dryness stage.
she's impatient |

I think a vitamin C and sunblock are a great thing for her to get into. Money permitting, I would suggest an argireline product. Since she doesn't like spending much $ on skincare, you could make her some of the "home made" Hauschka-like cleansing cream that Carrie posted a recipie for I'm not sure how it works, but if it works as well as the real Dr H cleanser then it would be great for congestion.
My mum is really cheap with cosmetics as well so I end up getting her most of the stuff I reckon now that she's seen the results though she'd shell out for the Vivier serum and the ADCE. |

I gave her a sample of serum 10. If she likes it I'll get it for her mothers day gift or something. Agriline is alphaderma right? I can't see her spending that much but I'll give it a try. Maybe I'll send her to EDS for mothers day and then it's not my fault if she doesn't like it...
hehehe... If I could afford to buy my mom the stuff I would. She seems to have aged about 7 years in the past 9 months. |

My mother is the same with the Avon. I don't really know why she is so into, but I will say that the Anew Clinical cream seems to working on my mom. She is using it as a night cream and her skin is really dewy now. That combined with vit C is helping her. If I only I could get her to use a firming lotion... |

I agree with the derm. Your mom would probably benefit from a prescription strength retinoid product. Hope she is at least using sunscreen everyday. |

Lianne,
If your mother goes decide to try the AlphaDerma I would also suggest the Prep highly. I do not think she should also start with Vit C with the AlphaDerma. She could use that later if needed. AlphaDerma has 5% C. I do not know your Mothers skin coloring but I find the SPF of 15 is just fine for me (light olive skin). What would be nice for your Mother is that everything she needs for younger looking, firmer skin is in it. She certainly could start with just the ADCE. In fact when I started using AlphaDerma they did not have the Prep. ADCE alone made a big difference in my skin....adding the Prep the results were better.
Right now JB just introducted the antiaging to go set with all products plus a free 4 oz.SPF of 25.
