Yes. Reduction. Unfortuantely, I bled a lot more than what is normal, and was not in good shape. My blood-pressure is lower, and dipped to 67 yesterday. Not a happy camper.
I am at home, and can barely sit up, let alone type. Had tubes/drains removed today. Am still bleeding, though not as much. Was saturating pads, and was instructed to use sanitary napkins when I got home. Who'da thunk it? "Always: it's got dry weave & wings ... and absorbs a Hell of a lotta blood when you're hemorraging." |

Yes, Casper has been a very good girl, and knew something was up last night when I got home. She wouldn't leave my side, and did a lot of hovering. Maybe she could smell the blood, and it scared her. She's been more careful not to walk over my chest while I'm sleeping. Rested her head on my hip, and snuggled under my arms instead. A few "Caspie kisses" on my hands too. She is glad her mummy is okay, and it's very comforting to have her in bed with me. My mother, is taking care of me.
Note: she is having to help me change my clothes. My mother has not seen me naked since I was ... about eleven This is so undignified: my mother having to help me change my underpants. Wait until the bandages are removed on Friday: she'll FREAK-OUT when she sees the swelling & incisions! She was upset enough by my grotesque bruises and from all of the blood. (1/2 quart ... about 200cc's last night alone). She keeps saying, "I'm sorry!"
Why is she sorry? She didn't do this to me! |

Oh I am so excited for you! I know you're in pain and feeling awful right now (speaking from experience), but in a short time you'll wonder why you waited so long to have it done. Take it easy and let mom & casper take care of you. Best wishes!

I'm always amazed by how animals seem to be able to sense when people are not well. I suppose there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to sense when their owner is behaving differently to how they normally would. Still, the fact that she's being careful and not walking over your chest shows that she's smarter than the average cat!

If her thought processing is anything like my Mum's then perhaps she feels guilty because her genes may have determined your breast size. My Mum once apologised to me because she felt bad that I had been short changed in the breast dept. Her sister (and all my cousins) and my Grandma are quite 'ample' in that region, whereas my Mum never got beyond a B-cup.
After reading about what you're going through following your breast reduction I'm glad I didn't take after my Grandma. |

CM, I'm sure you'll be feeling a lot better when you're all healed up! You'll feel great the first time you put on a skinny strap tank!!
It's so nice of your mom to help you out...I'd also feel weird having my mom change my undies. Perhaps we can send over a hot male nurse??? I'll go down to st pauls and find your one right now!!!!
On a sid note, my cousins wife has really low blood pressure and almost died when she had her baby. Luckily she had banked some of her own blood so she didn't need to worry about someone else's blood for the transfusion. Might be a good idea if you ever have another surgery or kids. |

casper's mum, I'm sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience during your surgery. I just wanted to wish you a speedy recovery. It is a difficult operation (I had it done years ago), but after the healing you will begin to feel so much better and you will have so much fun choosing new bras, teddies and camis
and big hugs to casper from mikey, gilbert and andy, my fuzzy-faced sweeties! joani |

Yes, I am feeling better, though the first two days were not so nice. Who'da thunk that sanitary pads could be so useful and absorbant for big boo-boos like my own?! The nurse at the hospital said, "Hey, they're cheap, absorbant, and sterile. The best thing you can use!" Imagine: me, sitting around in a surgical bra, with Always pad shoved everywhere! Oooh, and a lovely, binding Tensor/Ace bandage wrapped tight around me too!
I am black, blue, and green right now. I am hoping that the worst is over, and have been comfortable just taking ibuprofen, instead of Tylenol-3. Was covered in ice-packs a few times, to help with the swelling.
The drainage tubes came out on Tuesday (ouch!), and I am due to have the bangadges removed tomorrow. This, I am looking forward-to, because I haven't been able to shower or bathe normally. Went to a salon, to have my hair washed yesterday. The salon is about 2 blocks from my home, and I was wiped-out just from the short walk.
Mum has been very helpful, though I do not have any dignity left. I can't say that it's been fun, having my mother help me dress at thirty years of age. Embarassing: "Can you help me put on my underpants, please?" I can't bend over properly to reach for things, because the movement and pressure on my chest hurts too much
I'm taking iron supplements to help me recover from all of the blood lost on Monday. Between this and the codeine in the Tylenol-3, I don't know which is making me feel more ... distended. My chest and my stomach are rock-hard!
Casper has calmed down, and is no longer fretting. I was happy this morning, because I'm now slightly able to roll to my side, and snuggle her. Before, I was propped up in bed, and it was hard to hug her. She was worried on Monday/Tuesday, as I think she could smell the blood. I tell ya: she didn't leave my side at-all, just different areas of my bed. She sat, looking over my shoulder, as my mum tended to me, as I was laying there. Aww! Such a good cat! |

Hi CM
Glad you are coming out of the woods. From someone who has had 7 surgeries in her 42 years, I know how it feels. I had an incident of looooowwww blood pressure too, after surgery, plus difficulty in breathing....not fun.
You are young and fit, and you'll be back in no time. Meantime, take good care of yourself, and Casper too (that cat is great!)
Many well wishes going your way
