If I wanted to make a simple 15% diy vitamin c serum, but wanted to add germal plus as a preservative, how much would anyone recommend? I am making 1oz of it..thank you, just can't find a recipe. |

OK! L-acidic acid that you make at home with the correct pH (around 3.2) will not need preservatives since it's in such acidic environment.
My concern is STABILITY of Vit C and no preservatives will help that.
So make small patches and throw out every 3 days (max 5 days).
It can be made substantially more stable if your formula contains a large percentage of ethanol. Ferulic Acid will also help stabilize it (eg look at the Skinceutical forumlation). |
