Is there a way to buy retin a without a prescription? I am using the Obagi skin care system and am ready to step up to the next strength of retin a but it is so expensive and I have seen cheaper places online where they do not require a prescription. Has anyone ordered from one and which do you recommend as being reliable and cheap?
TIA

All Day Chemist, ships from India. Shipping is $10, but items are cheap and good. I get my retinoid and bimatropost (generic Latisse) from them. No scrip, no problem.

Thanks Kalima. I had heard of that site but it looks as if their shipping has gone up to $25. I will have to think of some other things to order as well or wish I had someone else in my area to split shipping with.

I am not sure where you are from, but other than All Day Chemist you can buy the same Retin-A from here: http://www.unitedpharmacies.co.uk (you don't need a prescription).
The prices for each tube is more expensive than ADC but their shipping is cheaper at £5 per order (about $8USD). The tubes are £10 each and maybe in your currency will work out either just as expensive or more expensive, I am not sure.

I personally haven't ordered from this company before but might give them a try in the future when my ADC Retin A supply runs out.

I just place an order, the shipping is USD25.

BTW, there are too many brands for Retin-A, how do you choose?

Please keep me updated, too. I'm almost out of my retin-A. I have used the 0.25% cream for about 5 years now and am thinking about ordering the 0.5% cream or retin-A micro. Any opinions on what to do? My pcp advised me to stick with the 0.25% if it doesn't irritate or dry out my skin, and I'm not sure if that is sage advice or not.
Incidentally, it is ridiculous that insurance no longer covers this and that we all have to resort to buying it through dodgy sites like alldaychemist.com. I'm definitely going to buy from them, since my pharmacy wants over $125 retail for the cream!

Shock

It's such a bleeding rip off...we get it off the shelf here in the pharmacy without prescription and many other countries as well.

USA and Canada really take the cake with this malarkey. Throw in Europe while I moan about it as well.

Was that for the 0.5% or the 0.05%...? Just curious...because if the .05% then that's easy to do here.

Curious now...I could toodle into my derm and ask him for the 0.5% and see what he would say. If, as in the past....for Accutane, that was dirt cheap with insurance. Did require a prescription, and was covered by insurance.
[ which is also dirt cheap here ]

A .05% tube of Retin A / Isotrex cream 40 grams =$22.00US off the shelf, produced by Stiefel

And it's even cheaper in Thailand. Confused
And in the Dominican Republic, the price would make you cry....can I say affordable?

http://www.institutodermatologico.com/cirugia_derma_cosmiatrica.html#

They might be able to help you out. That's where I loaded up last time. [ picking it off a shelf of course...but that is the producer]

I bought one from a pharmacy in Shanghai, made in shanghai, it's not the same. I used a few times and threw it away.

I ordered .05 Retin-a cream from Alldaychemist and had a very positive experience. I received the shipment yesterday! The labeling states that it is a Johnson and Johnson product but it is made in India. I am going to try it tonight! They have lots of choices for Retin-a and the transaction was very pleasant!

It's good to hear Starlight, I am waiting on 2 tubes of 0.025 and 2 tubes of 0.05 from ADC, both the J&J brand!

Have you considered ordering with friends so the cost of shipping is divided? This is what I do and it makes ADC worth it for me for sure.

I have read mixed reviews about ADC as per safety issues & quality of product. I ordered mine from Medsmex.

I just ordered retin A from ADC after years of ordering from Medmex. There is no difference in quality and ADC is much cheaper as well as being more reliable. Greg

I just ordered for the very first time about 3 weeks ago from ADC and the site was acting crazy so I called and they were very professional on the phone, the lady took my order and I got it a few days ago! Prices are great and it's J&J brand. I am happy so far, only used it once and the cream feels fine to me. Smile

That's just insane, I ordered 4 tubes of 0.025 and 4 of 0.05 that are good for over a year from now even with $25 USD shipping I paid less than $75 for 8 tubes!

Do any of these pharmacies ship to Australia? I am currently using 0.05% strength at age twenty five with an application of hydrating serum before the retinoid. I dont have any irritation anymore but am curious to know what people think.. Should i stay on 0.05% or take out the hydration serum and use the 0.025%? Smile

Yes, ADC and Medsmex ship to Australia. If your skin is handling 0.05% without any issues, I would stick with that.

There are a lot of sellers on this website, an eBay type of website that sells everything. That's where I found my microgel cheap.

why would you want to get it not prescribed by your doctor?

I found the .1% to harsh for my skin and barely used any of it. dispite reach on the internet saying this is what is ideal for acne and blemishes

the ..05 is really good.

In Australia, Retin-A is easily available from the doctor at a very reasonable cost. However, in the US some medical insurance companies won't pay for it and it is very expensive.

I think there's a huge difference between .1% and .05% - I find the .1% much stronger and it really makes my skin peel allot. But I don't suffer from any irritation or redness so I've been persevering with it. It has really refined the look of my pores - all the craters on my nose have gone. I definitely wouldn't advise to use it every night though. I'm going to use it for a while longer, then go back to .05%.
