I'm looking at having some Sculptra. I've had Restalyne in nasolabial lines which worked well, but just noticing general lack of vitality in cheeks and undereyes - looking generally a bit withered and droopy. Wondered whether Sculptra would be any good for this?

Actually artefill is a permanent filler which has just been approved in the us for nasolabial folds.Sculptra is used to build volume in the face to plump up wrinkles.I had artefill and love it,I tried all the other fillers and none of them lasted more than a few months.

oh....sculptra is very heavy stuff for under eyes.,I have heard of bad outcomes under the eyes,it can get lumpy. Not sure about the cheeks, some people use radiesse. You may want to check into flexeffect.com to help sculpt and contour the face through exercise, thats supposed to help a lot as far as raising the cheeks, and its cheap, their program is only $69.,and they have a forum for questions and answers.

I've had Sculptra and am very pleased with the results. The most important thing to consider when using Sculptra is the amount of experience the doctor you choose has in this area. Also, the time between sessions should be at least 6 weeks so the full effect of the previous treatment can be evaluated (so don't be in a hurry, it's worth the wait.) I've had three sessions consisting of a series of injections which took about 1/2 hour each. I'm in my early forties and have lost fat and volume in my face, causing me to appear gaunt and tired. Sculptra has restored some fullness and given my face a softer look. My face was not symmetrical and my doctor was even able to correct that. I did have some bruising, but no lumps. After the treatments you should massage the areas injected three times a day for three days following.

Thanks BF

unfortunately it is very expensive like 1500 pr syringe and you may need up to 5 syringes to see a difference if you have a lot of volume that you have lost. It is supposed to last 2 yrs or more but that really depends on the individual..it could be less.I have seen dramatic results with it,especially in HIV patients but it is pricey.

Any more feedback on Sculptra would be really helpful.

Sculptra is good for the tear trough area if you have an experienced Dr. (My Aunt Uses Sculptra in her tear trough)You will get bruising...but just stay away from asprin 2 before injections and definately take chlorella powder at least a week before injections and it will more than likely prevent brusing all together!HTH

I have been getting sculptra for years with no problems...but not "brilliant" results. I just got a thing called Juvederm Voluma which should last for a similar time.....see my thread below!

hope that helps

I'll be interested to see how you go. I was looking into this some time ago and did quite allot of research on the net. I got really frightened by all the horror stories - many people reported getting lumpy results and some even said their face was disfigured. Apparently it's very important to find someone who is a really skilled injector.

I hope this works out for you because I actually like the principle behind Sculptra - I just need some positive feedback to get me interested again.

I have also read a huge amount about the issues but the person who is injecting is my normal surgeon who is a cosmetic and opthalmic surgeon. I trust her 100% so will report back.

The key with Sculptra is be very careful injecting around the hollows under the eyes.

It is £300.00 for each vial and I am having one next week and another in March.

Just keeping up the battle against ageing.

Well, we're all fighting the good fight - but some of us are winning the battle but losing the war! Laughing

How long will it take to see results?

8 - 10 weeks.

The surgeon said it will take over from the filler I have, which I have twice a year at £200.00 / half syringe - which is £400.00 year - Sculptra should cost me £600.00 /two years.

I will report back.

I'm still on the fence about this too. I'm worried that the effect won't be as pronounced as a standard cheek filler.

Anything to report yet PQ?

Keliu - that is my concern as well - no sign of any change yet - the derm said 3 months -ish - you also can't use STOP when you have had Sculptra for about 6 weeks so I am missing that too.

I would hold on Keliu and I will let you have my honest opinion and of course I shall tell my derm what I think Laughing

I've been researching Sculptra for a while now, but I moved to a new place and do not know a good doctor yet..

Thank you for sharing!!!

ella-stella - I do have some hope as my derm is a friend too and she really sold Sculptra as a cheaper alternative for me - I have filler once a year in the laughter lines - she said Sculptra should give me fuller cheeks and smooth out the laughter lines but I have to be patient - which isn't in my character.

Will report back.

I did spend ages massaging the product in for 2 weeks - this is supposed to give you an even finished result.

When I know if it works I shall put all the tips on this topic.

Happy to share.

PQ

Today is the day - I have noticed a slight very thin raised pad on both of my facial cheeks - I can see where the derm put the product in today - two pouches above my cheek bone - if they keep growing it should look good.

Watching progress everyday.

Since Sculptra is a volumizer, as opposed to a filler - do any of you get fillers on top of the volumizer - to get the short term results while you are waiting out the long term results?

Thanks, BF
