Hi Rosebud! Actually, my skin isn't too oily....I break out a little bit my skin really behaves itself since I've started using Dr. Hauschka cleansing cream...I *love* this stuff! My skin usually goes *nuts* once a month - but not anymore (yay Dr. H!) My current regime (and I mean *today*) includes Skinceuticals vitamin C serum 20, Decleor Hydrotenseur (eyes - daytime), Clarins Super Restorative Day Cream.... and for night - I use Strivectin SD and Clarins super restorative eye concentrate (soon to be replaced by Cellcosmet eye cream *sigh*)... I recently tried the Bare Escentuals Minerals at Sephora and went *nuts* - especially for the mineral veil....I just couldn't believe what wonderful, natural looking coverage I got! I ordered it for myself, today....I've read about the minerals a million times on this Board...I think I was scared that it would look cakey - but for me, on the contrary! I just *loved* it!

I think I'm going to try the Jane iredale - she seems to get the best feedbacks and BE seems like a chemistry lab
Sorry I'm late boss was mixing my minerals.
Am dying to go to the States then I can burn some plastic at Sephora!!!! |

Hi Pudoodles! I'm curious to know what you think of Bare Escentials.
I was recently in the States and picked up some Bare Minerals on a whim.
I was very skeptical, but am really enjoying the products and am now kicking myself for not buying more. (The Sephora I visited in Seattle was almost out of everything in BE though).
I have crazy combination skin which normally has a bit of everything: oily patches, dry flakes, acne, bumps, red patches - you name it!. Things have really calmed down since I started on the minerals, and my skin is looking much healthier and more even.
How have you been finding BE so far? What shades do you wear? I got the starter kit in light/fairly light which is just a tad too dark for my pale pale skin. I'm thinking of trying the foundation in #1 fair.
I'm also dying to get my hands on some blush (they were cleaned out at Sephora) and some more eyeshadows to play with! |

OK I can't decide BE or Jane Iredale I think I'm going to have them both!!!
Oh I'm just going to have everything how much will it cost for the whole Essential Day Spa - not the wrinkle stuff though (only 22) |

I don’t know if she ships outside the U.S., but you should really check out this seller on Ebay http://stores.ebay.com/The-Birds-Nest_W0QQssPageNameZVIStoreHeaderLinksQQtZkm? if you want to buy a bunch of BE eyeshadow, blush and/or foundation color samples to play around with!! I just ordered myself a 6-piece BE eye shadow sample and I got to pick all of the colors that I most wanted to try. It looks like this lady has *all* of the BE products, even the limited editions that I’ve desperately been trying to find!!
If “Birdy2U” doesn’t ship internationally, then you could always have a friend in the U.S. place the order for you, then the friend could re-ship the items to you in England and you can reimburse him/her using PayPal. That’s what I’ve been doing for some ladies in the UK and Oz who wanted to try various items available only in the U.S.... If you don’t have a friend who will do this for you, I’d be happy to help you out – just PM me and we can work out the details.
HTH,
Carrie |

This is the only place I have ever bought my Bare Escentuals products. Last year, before I found this forum, I emailed this seller and she helped me chose a colour, ships quickly and reasonably and will ship internationally. She always marks parcel as 'gifts' to Canada and is friendly. I've purchased from her about 6 times now. Good luck! |

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'll file for future reference in case I need additional "connections". I'm fortunate because I live in Vancouver and can place orders locally through EDS.
I was so thrilled to stumble upon this website! A highly rated spa right in my hometown AND good advice from others who share my addictions
Pudoodles if you're out there & see this, I'd love to hear how you like BE so far. |

Hi Cheezwiz!! I'm totally LOVING the Bare Escentuals! I always "snorted" at the minerals...I always thought that they would be cakey on me or make me look older...I probably always associated them with those horrible insta-tan powders of the 80's (the stuff that made you look like you'd been attacked with cow dung!)..I gave in recently at the Toronto Sephora and decided to play with the testers - I was STUNNED! I tried the mineral veil and couldn't believe how beautifully it went on - the finish on my skin was astounding! The Toronto Sephora was pretty much cleaned out as well but I did get 2 of the bisque multi-tasking minerals! As soon as I got home I placed my EDS order and got 2 minerals veils, a radiance and the foundation powder(fairly light) - the same as you, I think! Gee, I hope it's not too dark - I'm a milk bottle, too!! Anwyays, my order should be here any day - in the meantime I am mixing my bisque multi-tasking minerals with my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder and am getting great results - but I can't wait for my package to arrive! It's great to find something that works, isn't it?! Aren't you amazed by just how well this stuff disguises imperfections! I'm tickled pink!!Did you place your blush order? Did you cave in and order anything else? Pudoodles |

I looked at the difference between JI and BE - Iredale cantains zinc so I think that must be better for problem skin. As I wear MAC with no problems I think I'll send off for the Bare Escentuals - At least next time I'm in town I can test this one out in the shop, mess and annoy the sales assistant
I do really want the Jane Iredale but I don't think it's worth buying blind and for the cost of tons of samples plus p&p I could have bought the real thing!!!!
Hey pudoodles I know you keep bringing this thread up so you can be famous!!!!
What time is it over in Canada? Have spent Saterday night cleaning up cat sick....she's trying to be my friend now.....cats really are niether use nor orniment, this one is scared of birds. |

Sorry, going to jump in on this topic....
I hate having to clean up cat sick. Especially when it's still warm. It always amuses me how my cat gulps her food down, then throws it up again and then mithers me for more food.
If she didn't eat so quickly in the first place she wouldn't end up being sick and wanting more food.
Cats have one use - they are great companions. Admittedly, some are better companions than others. I had one cat a few years back that hated to be handled and spent most of her time outside. Wasn't interested in human company at all.
Scared of birds, . Well, that's good in a way. At least you won't end up with dead birds lying about the house, left as little offerings for you.
Suppose I should mention skincare in this post somewhere... um, does anybody know if Jane Iredale make-up contains bismuth? I've heard that bismuth can irritate some skins. I think I heard somewhere that BE contains it but I wasn't sure about the JI. |

Since our * spam * cat has gooten older - she's gone really soft, I love her to bits really. We used to find dead birds littered around the house, it's the magpies she's scared of they are huge!!!! Speak of the devil she's here now - dindins time - she will torment the dog in minute by shunning her own food and eating the dogs - the dog (alsation) is scared of 'magic paw'.
Oh she's started eating toast now as well!!!
Cat's gone mad |

Hi Pudoodles, looks like we got some similar stuff! I too felt skeptical about mineral cosmetics which is why I only got the starter kit. I'd been watching those infomercials for years, and though I was intrigued, I kept thinking "Nah, no way it'll work on me"
I'm shocked at the even coverage this stuff provides. I'm also REALLY surprised at how incredibly even & healthy my skin has become UNDERNEATH the minerals over the past week of use. No more redness, clogged pores, scaly patches or angry acne lesions. My skin has not looked this good in a loooong time, and each day it seems to improve a little more. (Today I was trying on sunglasses at the drugstore but was distracted by the miracle of my clear complexion )
I really like the starter kit I got. When you receive yours you might be a bit taken aback by the shades inside:
#1.2 fairly light - this is the shade that I've been using most of the time. It looks like a scary dark yellow in the pot, but it goes on very sheer and the colour is not noticeable. The key is applying with a very light hand and then waiting a few minutes for the makeup to "set" The slightly yellow undertones are good for disguising red discolorations, yet don't read as "orange" on the face.
#2 light - it looks more "medium" to me. A little too dark for my pale skin, but might work in the summertime. Good for spot concealing.
Mineral Veil - Nice finely milled powder, translucent shade - perfect for palefaces! Gives a nice soft finish to makeup.
Warmth - waaay to dark for me, even in tiniest amounts. Would be a great product for women who love bronzers as it has a nice texture and natural finish. I have been playing around with it as a shadow in the crease of my eyes, but otherwise it just doesn't work with my pale cool-toned complexion.
In addition to the starter kit I also bought:
BE Lipstick in Aida: nice medium pink. This is actually doubling as a blush for me as well.
BE Lipgloss in Violet: very pretty mauvy pink
BE eye glimmer in Cultured Pearl: Nice multi-purpose off-white shadow, can be used as a wash, or highlighter.
BE eye liner in Sugar Plum: deep purple shade
That's it for now. To answer your question Pudoodles, I haven't obtained anything else yet as I'm reeeeally broke
But come next pay-day I plan to get (at least some of) the following:
Mineral foundation in #1 Fair,
Blush (Sephora had a sample of a gorgeous shade called "Heaven" but it looks like EDS might not carry it)
Some more eye glimmers & shadows to mix & play with
Some more lipstick shades - I actually really like BE's lipstick, as its very emollient.
Sorry for rambling on so long, but it's been ages since I've found anything that's worked so well for my skin. I'm a little excited!
Pudoodles please post again when you get your kit and let me know how it goes! I think I will head over to the Product forum and post a proper review of the products I've been using. |

Dark yellow in the pot *yikes* cheezwhiz - I'm a little worried that I should have ordered #1 - I went back and forth and then decided that I'd go with the 1.2....I hope I'll be OK with it...I have a funny feeling that I'll be ordering the #1 with my next order (I'm getting pretty poor, too!).....I'll be looking for your comments on the products review forum - YAY!

Don't be scared Pudoodles!
You will probably be fine with the 1.2! I'm a real paleface and it looks totally natural on me. It took me a few days to figure out the right application - believe me less is more. Also, it takes a few minutes for the minerals to "blend in with your face". There is no funny colour or demarkation btw neck & face.
I just wanted the #1 as a sort of "security blanket" if that makes any sense. Normally I'm the palest shade in foundations. If its too pale then I can mix it with the 1.2 or 2.
This stuff appeals to my artsy side because you can mess around and blend colours. Have fun! |

BE contains bismuth, JI does not -- I think that's the reason that JI foundation doesn't give you that shiny/pearly finish like BE does. I started out using mineral makeup with BE, but switched to JI back in January and haven't looked back!!

P.S. When my cat/s get sick or hack up a hairball, I call it "yarking." |
