I've been thinking for a while about adding copper peptides to my routine. But I don't want to discontinue C serum, because I have seen real improvements in skin evenness and hyperpigmentation from using vitamin C.

Lots of people have noted that C serum and CP's don't play well together, and have suggested that they be used 12 hours apart. The problem is, I prefer to use my morning actives before going to work (7am or so) and my evening routine when I wash up and go to bed. (usually somewhere between 11 and 12pm.) But a twelve hour gap would suggest doing the CPs around 7 pm!! I'm often still at work then, and not in a time or space to scrub off makeup and slather on evening skincare.

So...do people really do the 12 hour spacing? Is a six or seven hour difference inadequate? Should I just forget about CPs?? Am I taking all of this way too seriously? Inquiring minds want to know...

I used to do the routine you suggest and it worked fine. Main thing is that there is a good 12 hours before you apply the CP which would be the case if you put it on at midnight!

More than 12 hours would be fine, just preferably not less than 12 in between C's & CP's. You could also alternate the products on different days therefore timing would not be an issue.

I am currently using products that contain CPs and the manufacturer also makes pure Vit C capsules which can be used with the products containing CPs. I was told that the correct formulation allows these two products to be used together.

Thanks, guapagirl and bushy. Here's a followup question for you both.

Guapagirl, you implied that you no longer follow a Vitamin C/ Copper Peptides regime? Is that so? Why did you stop? And are you doing something else that works better for you?

And bushy, is this the first generation-second generation CP issue? I get so confused about CPs...

Thanks to all...

well I stopped with the c serum mainly cos I ran out and was too undecided about which one to get next (I usually use the cellularskinrx/prof solutions one)

At the moment I'm using CP super serum in the morning and avene ystheal at night. I'm looking to up my cp to the super cop and the avene to retin a. My routine is now very simple but I do miss the c serum. I may have to get some more anyway

I actually can't wait 12 hours. I use the GHK or the cp serum at night 9:00 pm. My vitamin C in the morning at 5:00 am. That's 8 hours in between. I haven't seen a problem with the amount of time I wait. I hope my vitamin C still works. Confused

When I first started using CP's I used CP's in the evening and Vit. C products in the morning. I have changed my routine. Now I use CP's one day and my vitamin C products the next. This new regimen seems to be working out well for me.

I don't know if it is first or second generation as I don't know that much about CPs but it is listed in the ingredients as GHK Copper Peptide.

GHK is the first gen CP and has just come out of patent so skinbio have just released their version. the second gen ones cannot be used anywhere near acids as the acid destroys the peptide apparantly and the stuff in the CP neutralises the vit C.

Personally I wouldn't mix even first gen CPs and vit C
