Went to get my hair cut so decided to get my brows done too. My skin above and below my brows is extremely inflamed. I just got home and put some Bio Oil on to see if that would calm it down a bit. Anyone have any other suggestions? I wore my over sized sun glasses to get my errands done. My bangs cover the top of the brow but the underneath I am sure will create "oh my, what happened to you"? I really look awful and it hurts like the dickens.
I did get a great haircut.  |

I had my brows waxed one time...it actually pulled skin off underneath my brows...enough to form scabs...
Have a question...do you have any of the long brow hairs that are long and wiry? If you do, did they trim them or pluck them out?
I'm afraid that over the years there will be no brows left it they are all plucked out.

maybe the wax was too hot?
my skin turns red very easily.
I heard for burns that oil is bad and makes skin worse and that stuff like a burn gel and weleda burn care work really well.
maybe stuff with aloe and arnica too.
For my eyebrows I was doing electrolysis,but just kind of tired of so many apt.
But now I tried the Q stick hair removal "threading" tool and it says to not use on the eyebrows too much...but whatever.
I did get it to work very well,but for such a small area you have to be super careful.
I think over waxing I will do that.
But will go back to electrolysis eventually... |

| It's possible you lost a strip of skin. Aloe vera gel and/ or calendula cream with allantoin as these have proven healing properties. |

I took the oil off last night, very gently I might add and put aloe vera gel on. This morning it looks a bit better and about half as red. I think I am missing a layer of skin. 
I don't believe I will be having my eyebrows waxed ever again. I am going to try and pluck them as the new hair grows in as I do like the shape. My goodness, I can't believe other more sensitive areas are waxed. |

And commiserations on the waxing... have never suffered that myself on the brows. On the positive side, as you like your new brow shape you should be able to easily maintain it yourself with tweezers and avoid further wax torture  |

Don't they recommend ibuprofen or such anti-inflamatories before getting brows done?
Also discontinuing retin-a products a week before, using vitamin e beforehead and NOT getting them done right before or during your period.
Sorry, I don't have any better suggestions now that the damange is done than what's already been given here.
I'm so sorry to hear of your bad experience.. it always shocks me to hear this happen to first time clients.. you'd think they'd take extra care knowing the risks. I mean they may have lost a client forever now! |

If you have lost skin that is poor technique or poor health screening on the part of the esthetician. Pleased to hear you skin is less raw today tho! You could try threading next time?  |

Find someone who uses powder to dust your skin before they apply the wax.
It keeps the wax from sticking to your skin so you only get rid of unwanted hair.
To help the raw skin heal, you can soak some tea (black tea) bags in warm water, and dab the skin with a cotton ball dipped in the tea, and let it dry. (don't wipe it off) The tannic acid in the tea helps take the sting/burn away, and helps the skin heal.

have you used retin-a in the last 6 weeks? Had a chem peel in the last 6 months? Used acne meds (oral or topical) in the last 6 weeks? have diabetes? on blood thinners?
All these things will make your skin more sensitive to waxing. I have no idea if the wax was too hot or if your girl was inexperienced. Always read the liability release card you sign. There are so many things that make people not a good fit for waxing. |

I believe it could be the RA but I also believe the wax was too hot. It's been almost 5 days and I am almost done with the peeling so that's a good thing. No more waxing for me that's for sure.

Some people are extra sensitive to different kinds of wax. There are probably hundreds of brands of wax out there! Personally, I don't care for any wax with a super strong smell. Cherry smell, lavander smell - I don't care what it is, I think wax should have no smell.
where I work, we use a sensitive formula wax with zinc for facial waxing. But fancy wax doesn't matter if it is too hot!! |
