maybe you guys could help me with my skin problem =) i've been using "good" products but my skin still refuses to improve. yes, it is somewhat better than before but i get very frequent breakouts.
i have oily and acne prone and
this is my routine. not very consistent but let me know what you think of it
morning
ultracalmin cleanser (dermalogica)
barrier repair (dermalogica)
sheer tint moisture spf 15 (dermalogica)
JI pressed powder
*face gets "uber" oily* =p
afternoon
skinceuticals gentle foaming cleanser to remove make up
followed by daily microfoiliant
followed by ultraclaming cleanser to soothe skin
i then apply doctor's treatment. dylacin which contains BP
night
ultracalming cleanser
skin soothing booster (dermalogica)
barrier repair
sometimes dylacin again on spots
well this is it.
i think im in a rut, nothings improving. so i need major help! =D thanks guys!
also considering adding rose dust and ylang ylang oil into regime. will that be even more complicated and wrack more havoc on my skin? |

You seem to be overdoing it. Your skin is being stripped of its oils and is working overtime to create more oil. You should have a simpler routine : wash, use a toner and treatment cream in the morning, and repeat at night. Once a week have a cleansing mask and exfoliation, but not on the same day. During the day, use blotting papers to fight skin shine.
Have you tried Effaclar, from La Roche-Posay? |

I agree with Linnie! Even for us girls with oily skin, overwashing will strip it of "good oils" and cause your oil glands to go into overdrive to produce even *more* oil and then it becomes a viscious cycle.
Looking at your routine, I suggest cutting out your "afternoon" regimen completely. I think it's probably doing you more harm than good. Move the use of the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant to morning -- try mixing a bit of the Microfoliant Powder with your cleanser (i.e.: use cleanser instead of water to make the 'paste') so you can cleanse and exfoliate in one step.
My recommendation, and remember -- it's worked for me! -- would be to wash your face twice daily (morning/night), exfoliate *once* per day, use your ACV toner twice daily (morning/night), apply your Decleor Ylang Ylang (when you get it) in the morning only, then apply your moisturizer (twice daily). You would then apply your Rose Silk Dust in the morning only, *after* your moisturizer has had a chance to penetrate and sink in.
Remember, in most things one should always follow the "KISS" rule: keep it simple, silly!! Try this and see if you don't get some improvement. |

lol. thanks loads
htw carekate, i've made the ACV toner and the cleansing cream as well!
i must say they are great!
however, i didnt add any essential oils as i did not have them. as for vit c, instead of crystals, i added the skinceuticals serum 20 instead. is that alright? =) |

I would definitely simplify this as well. Skin what you're doing in the afternoon and consider if the two moisturisers you use in the morning and suitable for you. Perhaps use a light gel instead? Something like the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel (can be used morning and night).... |

it'll be impossible for me to take away my afternoon routine because thats the time i get home and my face is greasy with makeup, oil and dirt. :s
ive stopped the 2 moisturizers for now. JI should give enough protection. my skin is getting much better added the super ACV toner |
