I have incredibly dry skin on my face. It's so dry that if you wait a few hours I would start peeling. I tried a few lotions and a few were to rough with my sensitive skin and made my face totally red, but the dry skin went away(until a few hours later when it dries up again). By morning I would have big flakes on my face and my face would feel incredibly tightened. I know this has been asked at least a hundred times but What would you say is the best lotion to get rid of very dry, sensitive skin? Thanks
P.S.-Such a great forum |

Have you been to see a dermatologist at all? I'm no expert but from the sounds of it, you may have more than just dry skin? |

What kind of cleanser are you using?
I agree with Princesita ... your skin sounds a bit too reactive. |

I agree with the others that something other than dry/dehydrated skin might be going on. It might be safe to visit a derm to rule out anything.
Are you exfoliating? Realizing you have sensitive skin this may not be an option other than a very soft wash cloth. One product that I will always have in my arsenal is MD Forte's Replenish Hydrating Cream. This is a great moisturizing cream geared towards those who use Retin A or post peels. I love it in the winter months when my face is overly dry/sensitive,red from wind etc. I believe you can get a sample atwww.dermadoctor.com orwww.dermstore.com. G'Luck and hope this helps! |

It does sound like you should see a doc. about this. Sounds more serious and involved than simply dry skin. That said, have you ever tried rosehip oil or rice bran oil for moisturizing. Both are not irritating and the rosehip oil is very moisturizing.
Good luck! |

Well Heifsin, you should try Elizabeth Grant serums for the face and eyes. 24 hr hydration is what you will get. You sure won't have extremely dry skin after using these products. Its the finest. |

Hi there---
I definitely agree with the MD Forte recommendation. My mum's a dermatologist and she recommends that product and Hydraphase by La Roche Posay for dry skin. It does, however, sound like you may want to consult your derm ... it could just be the change in weather or it could be something else...better safe!! |

Hi Heifsin,
Check your thyroid. It could be that you
are hypothyroid. This is how my sister
got diagnosed. Her face was extremely dry
and flaky. |

What about taking supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil or fish oil supplements? You can also eat foods with good fats like flaxseed or avocado.
Product wise, I found Calendula (sp?) cream very soothing. Jurlique has a wonderful product. |
