Can someone with no breakouts but excessive dry pathes on face actually over moisturize and cause more dry patches to appear because skin is confused and not producing own sebum any longer...just wondering cause I am using Camellia oil and don't know if it is my imagination but my skin seems to be drier than before. Weird?!? ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

Dr Hauschka holds that theory, so it may be the case with you. Personally I could never go to bed without cream. That said, if I use too much emu oil, my face feels dry, so now I use a couple of drops, warm them in my hands and press onto my face.
Also, are you exfoliating regularly? |

I have had that happen to me. When I have been moisturising a lot, thne my skin actually becomes dependant on the moisturiser and is drier than before. From My own experience, I have no doubt anymore that this happens. When I was younger I actually had to go off moisturier, cold turkey, and my face pretty much shriveled up and flaked off, then it recovered. Even though I have very dry skin, I find that it does better when I don't over moisturise. I have been trying the dr. hauschka thing, and not moisturising at night. I do find that it is actually encouraging my skin to produce more of it's own moisture. Also I have read that when you moisturise, it should be only enough to make the skin comfortable, not to slather it on. When you slather it on, your skin becomes dependant and stops producing it's own moisture. Hope that makes sense ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

As guapagirl said, have you been exfoliating? I find that if I don't exfoliate regularly I tend to get little dry flakey patches on my face. |

The response I get with this forum when I have a question is always terrific. I am glad I am not imagining things and will just take it easy with the camellia oil. I am going to exfoliate tonight...thanks for the responses! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Whoa!
This is an eye-opener for me!
I've been using Neutrogena Visibly Firm face lotion for months now and it's worked great for me. Until recently, my chin has become really dry.
I was thinking, since the chin is part of the T-zone, it should be more oily than the rest of my face. But it was not. It's really dry and flaky.
Anyway, upon reading this, maybe I should lessen the use of my face lotion, too. |
