I've searched around, but couldn't find anything like a definitive answer on this. I'm sure that someone probably knows:
What is the proper dosage for oral hyaluronic acid? I've found some 20 mg. capsules, and the bottle suggests 1-4 a day. Seems kind of wide range to me, so I'm wondering what other people are doing. |

50mg 2 times per day. I took more at first, but now cut it down. |

I started w/ 2 50 mg caplets in the am and 2 at nite. Kept that going for a few weeks and now I just take 2 in the am.
I have to say, cynic that I am, that I was FLABBERGASTED by the results. No need to ever touch a lip plumper when you're taking this stuff! Plus, my hair as never been so silky and shiny!!! |

It may be coincidence, but I took 1 50mg tablet this morning (to try to deal with lines from the inside! ) and not long after could feel my lips tingling!

Nooooo it isn't your imagination. It really is the wildest thing! When I first read the thread on this, I was rolling my eyes. My view is NOTHING acts that fast!!! I was never so happy to be proven wrong.... |

I take 100mg a day.
Where did you girls buy the capsules?
I had a friend buy it for me from Japan- apparently its the newest thing there to take hyaluronic acid capsules and if you go to a pharmacy, there are like tonnes of brands to chose from.
I have no idea why I'm taking them though, as silly as it sounds. My friend gave them to me and said its good for the skin. But in what way? Can someone tell me? |

They are supposed to increase your skin's ability to hold moisture. Additionally, the supplements are supposed to boost collagen production.
There are, indeed, a zillion brands out there. Many of them are intended to address collagen issues for people with joint disease.
If you look at the thread "I think I've found the ultimate lip plumper" you'll see that one of the forum users discovered that the supplements have an almost immediate "lip plumping" effect!!! One important factor, though, seems to be whether the supplement you take also has BioCellCollagen or Collagen II. The supplements that lack it - and those tend to be the ones specifically addressed to joint problems - frequently don't. It seems that without the collagen II the dramatic effect on your lips and skin isn't quite so dramatic.
I take the Skin Eternal Hyaluronic Acid that is put out by Source Naturals. I get it at the Whole Foods Market. They are 50mb tabs. I LOVE the fact that they are tablets as opposed to capsules cause capsules make me BURP !!! |

That's funny...when I was looking, I couldn't find them anywhere ...I had to order them online. Hopefully I will be able to find them soon then. |

mine are from the brand orihiro
i don't know if they contain collagen or not, its all in japanese and i just blindlessly follow my friend's instructions to take 5 capsules a day. i remember the last time i was in tokyo, i saw it being sold at some pharmacy called kumamoto or something like that. i just remember their logo being purple/yellow and there are many branches in tokyo alone- normally they're located near the subway, in the underground mall? |

I don't quite understand your question... Are you saying the hyaluronic acid supplement you are taking makes your skin tingle??? When exactly does it occur? Immediately after you ingest it? |

I believe what was said is that it makes her lips tingle. I know there are skin benefits when using this product although, I have no idea what they are. I just take it for lip plumping...as do many other on this forum. |

I found that I thought it made my lips look plumper as well in the first week or so. But then it seemed as I got to the four week mark or so, I couldn't see any results. Like it was a temporary effect and then it went away. I did not buy anymore and probably won't use it again. |

I take Source Naturals...100mg a day (50 in the morning; 50 before bed). I've been using it for about 3 months and my lips STILL look fabulous.

Think mine are source naturals from an american website somewhere (some sites charge soo much for it) my lips only tingled the first time I took one, no effect since, may used to it now (or maybe it was as said coincidence!) I believe it must be doing some good from the inside out even if you can't see dramatic differences

I get the skin Eternal HA product (pills and serum) from Vitacost on the WEB. It is the least expensive I've found. |

But I'm a bit worried. Is there any evidence that it may be unsafe to take these supplements? Thanks! |

Thanks Dionne,
I have a supply of them right now, but it is so expensive to order them online, so finding them here would be great! |

I just checked out http://www.skinenergizer.com/ - i'm quite interested in their skin toner- has anybody tried it? It contains emu oil, hyalauronic acid, aloe vera gel and amino acids...sounds like a good combination. |

faith i just returned from japan. i went to Matsumoto Kioshi like you said and i found the hyalauronic acid pills, its is red packaging- all the words are in japanese (i don't understand japanese) but in white front it says hyalauronic acid in BIG letters! its about 4900 yen I think.
when i was in the shop, i came across a new product called injuv which contains hyalauronic acid as well, but its rather expensive, it cost 13300 yen for a bottle! has anyone tried that? apparently its from the US |
