HI there well see for the past 2 years of my stay here in the US, ive never been able to show my face completely to people and not even to my friends. I have had acne since the moment i got here and it worsened a lot to cause craters all over my cheeks. the only stuff that had worked for me was pro active which just helped cleared my skin but not smoothen the terrible craters ive become desperate. I sought advice from a physician but the ointments they prescribed me pretty much didnt really do anything . I still have the post acne marks but the acne itself has all cleared up. I have craters all over and im so scarred inside. pls spare me the right products to suit my problematic face ![Mad](images/smiles/mad.gif) |

I'd see a dermatologist about microdermabrasion or laser therapy for it. That'll probably be most effective...
I'd do it sooner than later too...it's pretty much scaring and it's easier to get rid of now rather than later. |

HI wilma and welcome
As lianne suggested, Micro dermabrasion could be good and some members have had really good results using a combo of that and C serums with retin-a I think. hang fire and you will get loads of other recommendations. You could also look into copper peptides. It is a long term thing, but there seems to be some success. Look on the skinbiology.com site for more info.

Hi Wilma and welcome!
Please see a qualified dermatologist for your acne scars. There are much better treatments now than there were in the past. You may want to read this article about acne scars and lasers:

Good luck. Let us know how you are doing. Joani |

You've never had acne problems before coming to the US? That's odd. Perhaps a change in diet has worsened your skin. Try getting back to your old eating habits and see if that helps, I know America is flooded with greasy and processed foods, and these can be very bad for skin. |

There are indeed some wonderful new products that are readily available online and even at your local druggist....
However, if you're dealing with acne scarring, especially significant scarring, I just don't think you are going to achieve results that are quite as dramatic as the result you will get with professional treatment. If you are self-conscious about the acne scars, it is more than worth the money for you to see a qualified dermatologist. Once you do that, there are a broad array of products that will keep your new skin looking lovely.
Welcome to the forum btw.... |

i know. i dont know whats keeping me from going to the dermatologist. i thought it wouldnt worsened to this extend that it caused post-acne scars and pigmentations. But ill definitely go to a specialist now. But what do u guys think would be the easiest way? coz honestly, im fed up with not being able to feel good about myself and i just want quick results. btw i have pigmentations all over my back too. and i cant get rid of them i tried exfoliants but they just lightened the skin. it didnt really reduce the marks
u guys thank u so much for the time. The support system here is unbelievable! |

Hi Wilma,
Yes, you will be able to get laser treatments in Chicago. One of the best ways to find a qualified doctor is to get a referral from a good teaching hospital like the University of Chicago or Northwestern. Teaching hospitals tend to have doctors who know the most about current and cutting-edge treatments.
From what I hear, laser treatments are expensive and I do not know how many you will need, but it's better than spending lots of money on products that do not work.

Hi, Wilma!
Welcome! I am pretty new, too. I also have similar probs. I finally got my acne under control and my face was clear, but I was embarrassed and bothered by acne scars and pits/pockmarks. I went to see a nurse esthetician who told me I should go on Obagi Nu Derm Skincare and then do the Obagi Blue Peel. I was then sent to a spa to see an esthetician for the skincare. I am on the 3rd week now and to tell you the truth, I am seeing no improvements on the pits and old scars--in fact, it's made me breakout. So, if someone advises you to go on Obagi for your potmarks, I would definitely get a 2nd opinion. I am hoping the Obagi will still work and if not, the Blue peel, so I will keep you posted. However, I think the other posters here are more on the mark suggesting laser resurfacing. Definitely visit a dermatologist and please keep us posted. Good luck! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Hiya, Wilma!
The esthetician only told me that it would give me porcelain smooth skin by the end of the 6 weeks. She didn't say anything else. I haven't heard from her since she sold the system to me so I don't know if this is all normal. It's impossible to get a hold of anyone or for anyone to return your calls at that place, too. :P I'm going to see a new person for guidance soon, though(a doctor this time. ) so I will update with my findings and results. Hope to report back with good news! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

On the site where I read about the Obagi (which I am also using) It advises 3 six week cycles to start with, so 18 weeks altogether to get best results.Something to do with skin cycles.
Then maintenance programme which is 2/3 times a week. |

Hiya, Loopylori!
So, should the Blue Peel be done at 18 weeks, then, instead of 6? I've been told that I should have my Blue peel after the 6 weeks of Obagi Nu Derm. How long should I be on Nu Derm before I get the Blue Peel? Has anyone here had an Obagi Blue Peel? Will it really help with the acne pits/pot marks? |
