| Can anyone tell me what stores would carry boric acid powder, capsules, or suppositories?? I have a yeast infection that will not die. I've tried over the counter medicines and tried a prescription of Diflucan. I read that boric acid can be more effective than other type of treatment but I'm not really sure where to get it. I'd rather find a store that has it than buying online because I'd like to get rid of this ASAP. Can anyone help me out??? Thanks! |

I did a google search for boric acid and found this site though amazon. It appears that you buy the powder and you fill the capsules (sold separately).
Not to alarm you....but if you have yeast like syptoms for a while it could be something else. Possibly BV - bacterial vagistis (treated with antibotic). If that doesn't work and this is continuing on for months consider that it could be vulvadynia (literally pain in the vulva)
I do hope you are able to resolve this.

Kat, you can also do a search on EDS for a thread about Candida Recovery - it's pretty long, but it may be related to your condition. Don't probiotics also help?

This very likely has nothing to do with your situation, Kat, and I'm certainly not a doctor, but really stubborn/recurrent yeast infections can also be a symptom of diabetes. (Both my sister and husband are diabetic -- Type II and I, respectively -- so I am familiar with this particular result of out-of-control blood sugar levels.) My intention is not to alarm you but to provide a little nugget of information to add to what you're already doing to help yourself.
Many health food stores sell both boric acid and the gelcaps you'd need to make your own suppositories. It can be a bit fiddly to get them filled but I found it easiest to fill the shorter half (the "container" part) and then cap it with the larger half (the "lid" part). I'm embarrassed to say that I ruined a lot of gelcaps before I figured this out.

Just a tip-- try to watch what you eat when you're treating yourself for a yeast infection. Cut back on refined sugar, and no alcohol. Cut back on caffiene. I try to drink lots of green tea and sometimes cranberry juice.
I've been taking a yeast balance pill that seems to be helping-- it has peppermint and oregano oil in it.
I believe most women have this problem from taking birth control pills, which cause an overbalance of yeast in the system. I've stopped taking them, and am still struggling with trying to get it undercontrol. I have setbacks whenver I overindulge in wine or sugar. .. which is probably too often!!  |
