Up until the last couple of weeks I have been loving my JI pressed base but lately it seems that by early afternoon my makeup is looking very ewwww . Mainly around and on my nose, it seems to go patchy, certain areas look oily and others end up with MMU "clumping" on them.
I'm exfoliating reguarly (alternating between Derm Microfoliant and Jurlique FWC) and moisturising (Jurlique Calendula Cream at night and jojoba oil in the morning). I've tried applying Jurlique rose dust both before and after putting on the JI, just before and just after but it doesn't seem to make a difference!!
I love the ease of application and how lovely my skin looks for the first few hours but I work looong days so I don't want to be looking like sh*t before my days even half over!! Any suggestions for how to fix this prob??? I don't want to go back to regular make up!! |

Do you set the makeup with a spritz of something? Is the only thing I can think of- am not mineral makeup expert tho. See what others say.
Good luck fixing it. Take care |

Have you changed anything skincare wise? I don't know what else it could be. I would also suggest spritzing to set it. If that doesn't work then perhaps try a different brand of mineral makeup? |

I have not had good luck with the pressed base. The texture is grittier than the JI Amazing Base due to the additives necessary to make it a solid and I could never really get a good blend. Couple that with the fact that facial oils, moisturizers and sunscreens transfer back and forth from face to product, and over time it gets more difficult to work with, IMHO. |

JI pressed base is still my favorite mineral foundation powder. I don't find it gritty at all, but I have not tried the JI loose. It seems about the same fineness as Youngblood, BE and Glominerals though. With the pressed base, as with all other pressed powders, it's important to wash your brush on a regular basis otherwise you will transfer oils onto the powder. I wash my brush weekly and have not had any problems at all though. |

I know what you mean!
Do you apply with a brush? Try using the handi, it helps.
Also, i would use the jurlique rose silk dust in good amounts under the JI, but not over again. Somehow, it turns out v cakey and powdery.
Just my two cents worth.
if you find your nose gets patchy, don't out so much make up there. just a layer or two using the handi will do |

In addition to applying Jurlique Silk Dust before and after applying your pressed powder foundation, you might think of incorporating a very thin application of (regular, unflavored) Milk of Magnesia (yes, the laxative) just over the areas where you normally get oily during the day. This translate to mean that you should be able to use less JI pressed powder foundation to obtain your desired level of coverage, which in turn should mean that it should no longer clump on the drier areas of your face, while the oily areas will help stay more matte. The only other thing that I can think of, as Maddy suggested, would be to spritz those areas of your face where the powder tends to cake/clump.
Where is our resident MMU expert, Mariav? I bet she could impart some other great advice to help alleviate your problem, because – as you said – it’s difficult to return to traditional foundation after discovering the wonder of minerals.
BTW, what *do* you use to apply your pressed foundation? I have to agree with Tynkerbell that the best method for most users is using the Handi Brush because you can more readily control how evenly it gets applied. I know a couple of EDS members swear by using a flocked sponge to apply their pressed powder, but I swear I don’t understand how you’d be able to obtain an even finish and ensure you’re not using too much product. IMO, a flocked sponge would be better if you needed to apply your foundation in a heavier manner to cover up stuff like rosecea or heavy pigmentation or scarring, but because I’ve never tried using a flocked sponge to apply my pressed foundation, I don’t know if this actually holds true....
Anyway, I hope you’re able to resolve your application issues and will be able to keep using mineral makeup because I just think it’s healthier for one’s skin than slathering it with all those chemicals and preservatives in traditional foundation. |

Hi Princesita,
I just wanted to say that My skin is similar to your and I use a lot of Jurlique with some dermalogica, I also have been trying to find a happy medium with JI make up. I have to say after 3 years of using the stuff it is not as good for oily/dry combo skin as for more dry to normal skin. It always looks a little masky on the face and does get shiny and very caky several hours later, not nice to look at, especially around breakouts.
I recently used some of the Jurlique foundation mixed with my Calendula cream (I also mix yonka's Juvenile with it- makes it thinner and really helps reduce acne & inflamation) and it gave me areally nice natural glow and even coverage. I set it with Dr.Hauschka loose powder and it was really nice.
I do go back to the JI because I just bought a new one.
One more point- the loose is suppose to be SPF 20, I rarely go in the sun and recently noticed huge hyperpigmentation on my face - meaning the SPF was not working!!!

Much to my sadness I had to stop using JI-the pressed and loose made my skin itch as did the Absence-The liquid never really stayed put even w/jurlique. I now use Lycogel it is from the Dermo and they have it @ good salons. It is gel based/oxygen based. They say its for post-surgery etc but also for everyday use. One squirt on the JI flocked sponge and it is beautiful and i get compliments all the time. You can make it heavy or sheer as you want. Whats strange is that i can use the JI blush no problem. So hope you all have good luck w/JI I have a full bottle of liquid in Golden Glow if anyone is interested just pm me. |
