Hi everyone! I was wondering what kinds concealers you would recomend to me. My problem is this: I was in a very bad car accident about six months ago, and initially the skin on my face and hand was badly damaged. My doctors treated me as a burn victim, and prescribed some kind of skin-regenerating cream called Silvadene, which worked wonders! I'm very lucky. However, I still have a red, crescent-shaped scar around my eye that is noticable, and a thin raised scar above my lip.
I went to a plastic surgeon, and talked to everyone (including my doctor, a family member that is a doctor, even my high school principal!) about products to lessen the scarring. Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Cocoa Butter were all recomended, and it is getting better over time. My doctor said I have to wait a full year before having anything done, in order to give the skin time to heal itself. I will most likely only need microdermabrasion with the wand thingy from a dermotologist, with possibly minor surgery to resuture my raised scars.
So, after sitting through that long-winded story , what kind of concealers do you think could help cover up the scars so my skin looked more even? I have fair, usually dry skin if that helps at all. |

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear about your car accident. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but Dermablend make foundation/concealer to cover burns and scars. My cousin got burnt very badly on her chest and uses this it is very good. It is waterproof as far as I know so you can even swim with it on. They do a trial pack so you can test it and find the right colour for yourself. Hope this helps.

i would also highly recommend Dermablend, as it was created to especially cover up scars. I would call the company and find out who in your area would be a great person to visit, who can actually work with you in covering your scars and show you how to apply it, etc etc. Good luck. |

What I am going to suggest isn't really a concealer per se. I'm talking about Dermatix, which is supposed to be used for raised scars. I haven't used it myself but, from what I understand, it's a silicone based gel that you apply over the scar to smooth it out. It is also supposed to speed up healing. I'm not too sure about how it works as I have never looked into it in any great detail.
This is the product I'm talking about: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/dermatix_scars_treatment_remover.htm and this is its official website: http://www.dermatix.net/

I wouldn't recommed Dermablend.
If you tried it you'll find my suggestion much better. Estee Lauder's, Maximum Coverage Makeup. You can use it as a concealer or makeup. It won't rub off or sweat off. A tiny dot goes a long ways. It's oil free so use a moisutizer under it. Maybe just ask at your local store for a sample. It's much easier and more natural than DermaBlend..One tube will last you years. Let me know what you think! |
