Hey ladies,
I need a homemade lip balm that doesn't require beeswax and is easy/quick/cheap to make for and with brownie troop. Something the girls can make on their own. I surfed the net but can't find anything. Thanks-- |

Not sure on the quantities so you might have to experiment, but these are the ingredients on my Perfect Potion lip balm (which is lovely!):
Shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, natural vitamin E, peppermint oil (or other oils you might like). |

Thanks Mabsy. I didn't want to have to heat up anything with up with 4-6 year old girls. Plus, they have to be able to do it "on their own" for swap day I just wanted something we can mix in a bowl and put in small jars.
Do you think we could add food coloring to the mix? |

Most of the time, you’re going to have to heat the ingredients to melt them together, even those that don’t include beeswax, because stuff like cocoa butter and shea butter are in solid form. The only other thing I can think of would be to use something like Aquaphor as your lip balm “base,” then add a couple of drops of your fave essential oil (i.e.: orange oil is nice – I just used that to make a homemade lip balm out of coconut oil) to give it a slight scent and flavor. |
