I had never heard of Perfect Illusion until I received it as a bonus with "On the Set" makeup palettes. According to Paula Dorf's website, Perfect Illusion "Perfectly plumps your lips for a perfectly sensual mouth. Ends feathering lipsticks! You can also use this magical pencil on those fine lines around your eyes. Non-retractable."
One of my biggest hang ups about my skin is the nasty vertical lines around my top lip. I did not get those lines until I first waxed my upper lip one year ago. My facial hair (eyebrows, eye lashes and fuzzy hair above lip) is a see-through blonde. I waxed my upper lip to eliminate the fuzziness, not because there was visible hair on my upper lip. I should have left it alone, but maybe that fuzzy, (clear) facial hair was masking the lines on my upper lip? Who knows.
The Perfect Illusion is not a long-term treatment for those fine lines. This will not decrease or eliminate them, but it does temporarily mask them. It's a white "crayonish" product that goes on clear. I apply to my lips and on my skin around my mouth. The texture is creamy, but not thick or sticky. I don't even feel it or see it after I apply. Lipstick/gloss may be applied after if you wish. This can be applied before or after makeup. I do touch up with it during the day. It's also a nice base for lipstick or gloss, and it does prevent feathering.
There is a US patent pending on this product. The cost is $20US retail.
I don't know how long one tube will last, but I will be repurchasing! (At least I can disguise those nasty lines until I find a decent treatment that can provide deeper, longer term effects)

| Cool product. As an aside...if waxing your upper lip didn't mask the lines but indeed caused them, I'd try threading the hair rather than waxing. It doesn't rip a top layer of your skin off. The area stays hair-free longer. And, to me, threading hurts less. |
