Hi everyone! Please help! Is it possible that Vitamin C serum can cause break out? I don't know, I've been trying the Vitamin C 10% lately and I suddenly have more break outs than I normally do, do you think this could cause it ? Or it's just my skin is going through adolescent phase again!
I hate my skin lately! |

Hi, Pooh Bear:
If you have sensitive skin, it is possible that you experience break-out or other reactions with the vitamin C serum because of the acid thing. Have you ever used other products with vitamin C? Did you have reactions to it before? Maybe the 10% is too much for you to start with. If you really doubt if the vitamin C serum is what caused the break-out, you can try stop using it for days and see if it improves, and then go back again to see if you react to it again. Searching for the right cosmetic/skincare is a trail and error activity! Good Luck! |

Actually, the Serum 10 should help IMPROVE your acne, because it's gently exfoliating the skin, and removing pore-clogging dead skin cells. Perhaps your skin is sensitive to this product, you are using other products that may cause break-outs, or there are aspects in your life that are causing stress-related break-outs. If you're unsure if your break-outs are caused by products, then I suggest the process of elimination, one by one, to help you figure out which one is the culprit. Otherwise, your skin may be sensitive to the l-ascorbic/ascorbic acid contained in this product. In this event, using the esther of C, contained in the Jan Marini C-Esta or C-Esta Oil Control Serum(s) may be a better choice for you. |

Thanks to bbiz, mtview and Caspers Mum for you replies. Yeah, I don't know which product is the culprit, or if it's just my skin... There has been no new break outs in the last 2 days, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I hate to give up the Vitamin C serum since I heard so much good reviews about it.
Thank you all! |

Maybe you might wanna try Ester C(Ascorbyl palmitate) it's a non-acidic forum of Vitamin C that is stable. It's great for sensitive skin cause it doesn't burn. Perricone has an Ester C serum. I like it. it helps my skin to be less oily. and is fat soluble! |

The one that I used is for oily skin called antioxidant purifying serum (10% stabilised vitamin c), and never have a problem with my skin. |

Vitamin C serum has a direct benefit for collagen and connective tissue. It is useful if you have dry skin. |
