Hi miranets, this review is specially for you (:
Well first of all, I must say that I don't have chapped or dry lips to begin with, so I won't be able to say whether it actually helps in that department.
However, this lip repair cream comes in a small metallic tube, which you open and pump out a very small amount of white colour cream and massage onto your lips.
Judging from how little you need, I would say this will last a long time.
The indication on the bottle states: "Smoothes lip lines by gently exfoliating and promoting collagen synthesis while providing anitioxidant protection with vitamin E and siliman."
Well, from my expreice so far, it definitely does gently exfoliate. On my second use, i noticed some "dead lip skin", if I can call it that, sloughing off. Not shedding tons though, just the right amount. Even so, this product did not make the lip feel over excessively tampered with, just more moisturized and firm.
I might be hallucinating, but my lip looks a bit more plump, and from the touch, feels firmer and "bouncier"? lol. I think it's the collagen synthesis part.
Upon application, it also gives your lips a glossy, healthy colour, and my lips definitely feel more pampered with this.
I am pretty sure this product will be great for protecting lips and keeping them healthy. However, as for dramatically restoring damaged lips, I am unable to give you a accurate answer. (Although i think i feel those small lip lines are seeming to get less noticable)
Well then, would I recommend this product to you? well at 40CAD, it is really rather pricey. However, its nothing but good for your lips with all the antioxidants and viatmins. Still , I don't know if it's really the best around at this price. I got it as a wonderful free gift from EDS, so perhaps you could stock up on your skinceutical serums and such, then get it for free too (: Just an idea. hehe
Overall rating: 7/10
Cheers! |

What’s this??? A lip product CareKate didn’t know about before now? Hmmm, I feel a purchase coming on, she says as her credit card cringes in dispair....oh, waitaminute – I still have that $50 weekly drawing gift cert from a few months ago that I haven’t used yet! Joy: CareKate gets what she now desperately wants and the financial crisis is averted.
Actually, I’ve been very good lately – although I *did* buy myself a new pair of earrings yesterday, but that doesn’t count because I don’t have a pierced lip! – and it’s been awhile since my last lippy indiscretion and subsequent “confession” in the “Fetishes” thread so I guess I’m due.... |

thanks so much for the review.
i looked at the ingredients, and the second ingredient is paraffin, then propylene glycol?? i am just afraid it might cause little millia types of things around my lips (i'm prone to those if i use rich products).
i was tempted to buy it too with my $50 gift thing from eds.
(carekate btw, i sent you a pm about the ardell eyelash stuff, but don't know if you got it) |

This is the best I have ever used and I would give it a 10/10. This will be a permanent feature of my skin routine. |

You know what? I was expecting to be completely underwhelmed by the Skinceuticals Anti-oxidant Lip Repair after being burned buying a similar product from Sothys to the tune of $60USD, but I really like this stuff! It turned out to be what I had hoped the Sothys was. I don’t know if I’d like it enough to pay the full suggested retail price of $30USD, but I found it on Ebay for $17.99 (sealed box with an expiration date of 2008) so I snapped it up.
First of all, this stuff is *not* a balm. I’d consider it to be more of a “primer.” I apply it immediately after cleansing/exfoliating my lips and smooth it over my entire lip surface, including just outside the lip perimeter. It seems to penetrate the lip tissue so that there is no telltale greasy/waxy feeling like the feeling left by most lip balms, but it doesn’t leave my lips feeling immediately dry as is the case with most products that I’ve tried of this ilk. In fact, I don’t even feel the need to immediately rush and apply a lip balm or moisturizer because the Skinceuticals leaves my lips feeling moist and hydrated.
In addition to its moisturizing capabilities, it’s also a good primer to wear under lip stains, lipsticks/glosses because it helps the color adhere better and stay on longer. I haven’t tried it under one of those “permanent” lip color products like Revlon’s Overtime Lip Color or Max Factor’s Lipfinity yet, but I would imagine it would be wonder to prevent your lips from feeling so dry and uncomfortable, as is the typical result from those type of lip products....
It comes in a small metallic cylindrical container. When you remove the protective cap, it reveals a pump dispenser. Be careful when you pump it because you only need a tiny bit of product and it’s very easy to dispense too much.
I’ve only been using this for a couple of days at this point so it’s too soon for me to comment on the product claims about smoothing out lip lines, but I would like to say that it does seem to help smooth the surface of my lips so that the lip lines aren’t as pronounced which in turns gives the illusion of even plumper lips than when I am taking my HA/collagen supplements and using my topical lip plumpers of LipPulse and LipFusion alone. (Please be advised that I’m referring to the actual lines on the surface of the lips and not those lines outside the lip border which cause lipstick to “feather” and “bled” outside the lips.)
I can’t comment upon the product’s claims regarding exfoliating the lips because I already use a lip scrub to remove the dead skin from my lips at least once per day, so I don’t imagine there’s anything on my lips for the Lip Repair to exfoliate!
The thing I like most about the Skinceuticals Lip Repair is the fact that it’s moisturizing and hydrating abilities give an extra boost to my overnight lip “treatment” (Gatineau Electelle LipCare) so that when I wake up in the morning, hardly any of the lip stuff has worn off while I was tossing and turning and sleeping through the night.
Even though this stuff is expensive at $30USD per bottle, you only need to use a tiny bit twice daily, so I would imagine that a bottle of the Lip Repair would last for at least 4-6 months, so if you look at it that way, it really only costs between $6.00 - $7.50USD per month.
I foresee myself keeping the Lip Repair as a permanent member to my “beautiful lips” product arsenal. Try to get hold of a sample of this, or see about getting it on Ebay (the seller I bought from was “griffendoodles.”
Thanks for the product recommendation, Tykerbell -- if I hadn't seen your review, I'd never known this stuff existed! |

I LOVE the lip repair, I have been using it in the morning and evening for a couple months. My lips are smoother and pinker. |

I've been using this for the last few days after receiving a sample from Carrie (thanks again ). This is good stuff! Even though I have read the reviews of it here, I was expecting not to like this because somehow I just associate Skinceuticals with making C serums and not really specialising in any of the other products.
I had a tingling sensation when I applied this the first time, but my lips were very dry and irritated that day (after too many hours of public speeches, with no microphone and no bottle of water ). From then on I don't feel anything when I apply this so I'm really putting that tingly feeling down to my lips being irritated. I agree that you need only a tiny little bit (I applied too much the first few times) and it leaves the lips moisturised but without sitting on top of the lips. The cream seems to sink in pretty quickly and you can't tell that you applied it (i.e. it's not glossy or shiny). This makes a fantastic base for lipglosses and lipsticks and I could swear it makes them last longer. I also have a similar feeling to Tynkerbell in that my lips feel firmer or bouncier. I'm not sure if it's related to this or if perhaps it's an illusion. I cannot comment on the exfoliation because my lips are pretty smooth but I noticed that my lips recovered well from the "dry and irritated" stage - quicker than they usually do.
Also, to clarify, when I say that this leaves the lips moisturised - it's not to the same extent as a normal lip balm would (say Jurlique or the Gatineau), nowhere near. It does feel moisturising and doesn't feel uncomfortable but if you're like me and actually want your lips to feel moist or have a bit of slip when you rub them together then this is not the item for you (at least not solely this item). So, it's not the type of lip cream that you'd use during the day. I think it's a nice base before lipgloss and good at night under a nice lipbalm (like my fave Decleor *grin*) but I would not be using it by itself yet I feel that there is a benefit to using it in combination with more moisturising products. I'll have to update this after I use up my (big) sample.... |

I’m still loving the Lip Repair, but there’s one thing that could use improvement: the pump container that it comes in stops pumping out the product about halfway through, which seriously ticked me off because I thought it meant I was completely out of product – which would mean the container didn’t even last for an entire month! However, I got a pair of pliers and managed to pull the container apart. It turns out the silver-like metal is just a housing for a clear plastic bottle inside. Once you pull it apart, you immediately so that there’s at least 40% of product still left in the container. Of course, you’re no longer able to use the pump to dispense the product, rather you have to unscrew the pump-style lid from the plastic jar and dab some on your finger that way.
Just thought I’d share, in case anyone else was thinking that they’d run out too soon! |

I agree that SC needs to work on their pump packaging. The same thing happens with their Retinol product pump. It's irritating. |
