Janson Beckett on EDS?! and Vit C

What happened to it? I always thought JB was sold through EDS?

What is the difference between Viver C and JB C&C? What is the Vit C percentage in JB?

Do people have any information on the effectiveness of Magnesuim ascorbyl phosphate (water-soluble derivative of vitamin C)versus Vit C?

i know i'm replying to my own post...but i just realized i'm not on crack.

I actually got my JB trial kit from EDS, so i know FOR SURE that EDS used to sell JB!

I really want to get a sample of the C&C.

Ok, ignore my questions about EDS, I found it under Alphaderma (although I swear Alphaderma wasn't there when i just looked) Confused

Anyway, still curious about C&C versus Vivier and the effectiveness of Magnesuim ascorbyl phosphate and the percentage of C in C&C.

JB's C&C contains 10% Vit. C.

I have never used Vivier C (would love to try). I have used CellularRX C and Cellex C. CellularRX was fine but found my skin felt a bit greasy. Cellex C dried out my skin. I really love JB's C&C. I have found that my skin tone is nice and even. Most of all the color of my skin just looks better. I tended to be on the sallow side and C&C took care of that.

BTW: I can understand why it was confusing finding Janson Becketts products on EDS. When I first was looking I didn't think to look under AlphaDerma.

MAP may be better for more sensitive skin (according to JB) but all ascorbic acid derivatives except for l-ascorbic acid must be metabolized by the skin into l-ascorbic acid to be useful, MAP included. This means a 10% concentration of MAP will yield a lower plasma concentration in the skin once it is metabolized than a pure l-ascorbic acid would. I have not seen any clinical information that shows that MAP at lower concentration percentages produces equal or greater collagen stimulation than l-ascorbic acid at higher percentages. It would be interesting to see what sources JB uses to support this claim.

C serums are generally made to a 3.0-3.5 pH (slightly acidic) to help with penetration but not be so low (very acidic) to be irritating to the skin. They are formulated to achieve this pH. If JB uses a higher pH to reduce exfoliating effects, this seems like it would reduce the effectiveness of the MAP.

There have been more recent finding to suggest that MAP is a much better source for bioavailable vitamin c than previously thought. There was a study done at Price Edward and also one by a biotech firm in New Orleans, of all places. Crying or Very sad

Anyway, it is gaining popularity, as it appears to be an effective form of vitamin c, but is less irritating than ascorbic acid. As for the pH of MAP from what I have read it is not an issue like it is with L-ascrobic acid. MAP should be able to be formulated in a neutral pH range with no loss of efficacy or decrease in penetration.
However, you would not get the exfoliating effect that ascorbic acid provides, which does help in smoothing & brightening the surface of the skin. But if this new research is correct, then collagen synthesis & matrix enhancement should be unaffected. It will be interesting to see future information on this as more studies are done, but so far it does look promising. Smile

very interesting. I would love to hear what results people have been having with C&C...because it is quite a bit more expensive than the Viver.

C&C is $55 for .5 oz and Vivier is $70 for 1 oz.

I think Mabsy did a comparison on these.

I've tried 3 vitc serums, Cellex, SkinCeutical and the JBCC. For me the C&C wins hands down, it applies well, it doesn't block my pores or oxidise on the skin like the others did,my complexion is brighter. Not tried the Vivier (yet)
