Well I have just been to collect my 1st pair of glasses, must be reading this site too often has strained my eyes...  Anyway they feel real weird not sure if I can read better with or without them, things seem a bit blurry. How long does it take to get used to them? I am dreading wearing them at work tomorrow and having people comment or just stare at me!! I only need them for the PC and reading but as I use my PC all day at work I will have to put them on... I am sooooooo vain!!! |

I can't really help you out with those questions as I don't have glasses, BUT, I often think about getting some just for fun!! I think if you have to wear them, just make them part of your look! Glasses can be very stylish and sexy in my opinion.  Do you like your frames? And as for people looking at you...either tell them to sc*ew off, or get uber confident; they will all be complimenting you on your new look.  |

I may take a photo of myself with them on tomorrow and let you see (maybe) The frames are nice but they seem really small and when I look down I am looking under the glass rather than through it.. Maybe it just takes time getting used to them... Kids will be home from school soon so thats the first hurdle - sure they will roll about the floor laughing at me...  |

when I first got glasses it took 2 days before I could walk straight...mind you these were for distance/driving, not computer reading =) |

| I am near sighted, but when I get my glasses it usually takes the good part of a day to get used to them. If I didn't get used to them within 2-3 days I would definitely take them back. However, I wear my glasses for basically everything but reading and I'm assuming you don't wear your glasses all day long, so maybe give it a few days longer to get accustomed to it. |

Funny, we were just talking about this at work today! Seems the general concensus is that it can take awhile to get used to them (one person said it took her a couple of weeks!).
I use one pair for reading and 'puter and another pair for TV ......... bifocals ....... NEVER!!

| I'm short sighted and when I first got my glasses it took me about two days to get used to them. The first time I put them on and looked down at my feet I felt 3 meters tall! I didn't get any blurryness though - I was actually amazed at how clear everything was and how black the black whiteboard marker really was on the whiteboard |

Well its been 4 days now and things feel a bit better, havent actually really wore them at work yet, kept putting them on and taking them off again whenever anybody came near me, but have been wearing them to use pc at home and sometimes even forget I have them on, so next step next week I will wear them if and when required at work! (AND my daughter actually said I look nice in them !!!) Thanks for all the replies.......  |

Give it a couple of weeks. Take it from an expert (I've had glasses since I was 2). My latst pair of glasses took over a week to get used to but are now fine.
BTW just wear them at work and be proud. No one will look at you in a bad way - its not as if you are at school! People mightn't even notice |

Whats wrong with bifocals? I have varifoccals and no would know. Look the same as single lenses, I even have transition lenses.
Comes a time when you are just grateful you can see clear again that you dont care what the prescription is |

I have been wearing glasses for PC and reading for YEARS (can't count how many  ). It does take a few days to get used to glasses. I have been wearing them so long I actually think I look better in glasses (bags under eyes). Right off when I got my glasses I knew I could see better and clearer. My eyes (as I can remember) got a bit tired the first few days. I do not think you should be seeing blurry. You should let you eye doctor know this...perhaps the perscription is too strong. I wear frameless glasses. Where I need to wear them all the time frameless for me was the way to go. Frameless glasses blend right in and are not noticeable compared to framed.

I also have transition lenses and agree nobody would know. Thanks goodness for modern technology Without glasses I could not function. |
