Hi you all!! 
I want to buy a C-serum, I was using the Cellular Skin one, but it made me break out, a lot (and I founded out when I finished it  ), then I try the sample that J&B send me and that was better, but is to expensive, and I want to try the PSF one, because is cheaper, but I'm scare, and I read something that Perricone saids in one of his books: "In topical preparation (vitamin C), look for vitamin C ester and not ascorbic acid", so what’s the difference between, ascorbic acid and L-ascorbic acid, it is the same thing?, and What C-serum do you know that have vitamin C ester?
Help me, I’m really confused…

I suspect Perricone recommends the C ester in serums because his serum is based on ascorbyl palmitate 
Ascorbyl palmitate is particularly good if you have sensitive skin and cannot handle the l-ascorbic acid. From memory it is also more stable. However, the l-ascorbic is supposed to be more effective. I have tried the JB C&C serum (10%, based on C ester) and I love the texture, I also did see results from it. I do see better results with the Cellex-C Advanced C serum (17.5% l-ascorbic). So I think the choice depends on the texture you prefer and also the type of skin you have and what it can handle.
In terms of breaking out though, that would be more connected with the actual base that the vitamin C is in rather than whether it's l-ascorbic or C ester (IMO). |
