I've been using Skinceuticals C+AHA vitamin C serum. It doesnt cause me to break out and I like that I can see immediate radiance once I put it on, BUT it makes me itch.
I have a little tingle for about 2-5 minutes after I put it on. After the tingling stops, it continues to itch for 15-30 minutes. Not itch like I have to scratch it, but slightly annoying itchy feeling.
Has anyone else experienced a similar response to their Vit C serum?
Because my lack of other reaction (no redness, no bumps, no painful burning), I'm assuming I'm not 'allergic'... Do you think I'm wrong? |

The tinlgling is normal, while your skin gets used to the Vit C. It will stop over time. The itchiness doesn't sound good necessarily, but if you are not experiencing any breakouts, bumps, rash etc, I would say keep using it for 2 weeks, and see if it stops. Do you moisturize after you put on the C serum? Maybe that would help, about 10 minutes after you apply the C. |

Yes, I use moisturizer after the C serum whenever it's not sticky anymore usually 20-30 minutes...because it seems to sink easier in some areas than others. So I wait until the entire face is absorbed.
If it still itches after 2 weeks...discontinue use & try a different one? |

I would...and I would just use the remainder on my chest or something, so I didn't waste the product. Could be the AHAs doing it; so if you have to try a new one, try just a C, or maybe C&E. |

Try moisturising before applying the serum.... lots of times that helps. If you do well with that for a week or so, try mixing a small amount in with your moisturiser, slowly increasing the amounts.
If all else fails, try an ester-c product -- I can't use ascorbic acid topically because I itch, like you. I can, however, use the oil-soluble and non-acidic version of Vitamin C, Ester-C. I reveiwed my fav product with Ester-C in the reviews forum (Skin Eternal Cream). Dr. Perricone argues that, since ester-c is oil-soluble and acsorbic acid is water-soluble, the ester-c penetrates the deeper skin layers and achieves its benefits on a deeper epidermal layer. While I'm not a fan of his products (too overpriced with too little concentration of active ingredients), his science is sound, and there are lots of great products with the same ingredients (but stronger and nicer) at the healthfood store.
I'm not a big fan of unnecessarily irritating the skin -- for the most part, with skin "no pain no gain" is a dangerous myth -- aging is partly caused by inflammatory response (irritation, itching, etc...). If you have very strong skin and have the patience, retin-a can really help your skin -- but with an "ugly" phase. I cannot use any form of retin-a (or strong acids). Introduce strong consmeceuticals slowly -- !!! Just my 2 cents |

You may need to change to skinceuticals serum 10. The A+AHA wich I use also has the kick of the AHA. The 10 can get your skin used to the higher level of l-Ascorbic acid in the C+AHA.Try some Hydrating B5 gel abot 5 min after the C serums |
