You should take Carrie up on her offer!! She can make the toner to help with sensitive skin too!
As for your routine...I changed it a bit Smile
AM
-Cleanse with only water
-Dr. Hauschka's cleaning cream (this isn't so much a cleanser, but a gentle exfoliant. It will help get the gunk out of your pores. I am sure Carrie will send you instructions)
-ACV toner
-150mg clindomyicin pill with breakfast
-Sunscreen
Get home from school - Wet washcloth dabbing, then duac
PM
-Aveeno cleanser
-Dr H Cleansing Cream (it is gentle so twice a day is okay)
-ACV toner
-Retin A, every other night and spot treating
Does that make sense? Smile |
Few days ago i recieved these products from care kate:
ACV super toner
Dr hollands Vitamin C brightning Serum
Dr hollands redness-busting oil
Dr hollands ACV spot treatment
Dr hollands super brightning super-sonic facial mask.
With that schedule that faith wrote, i dont know what to do! i usally only have 30 minutes to get ready for school and it takes atleast 15 mins for my face to calm down! im so overwhelmed and i want to look good for homecoming on saturday (not a girl btw. lol.)
So how can i fit these into my schedule, and is that schedule good! i hope people that posted and saw my other topic will post here also.
Thanks!
Edit: did i recieve the cleaning cream? got i am so overwhelmed lol. |

Hi,
I read your post but unfortunately I don't use these products. Sorry...can't help. The forum seems slow today. Surely you will get replies soon. Views per thread are not necessarily from members. Anyone can read a post on EDS. To respond or post on EDS you must join.

Hi Google5,
I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you have only 30 minutes to get ready in the morning ... what does that mean exactly?
Does it mean that you stay abed until there's only 30 minutes left before you have to leave for school? If so ... my first thought would be for you to get up earlier if you need more time.
If it means that you have only 30 minutes in the bathroom because others are wanting to use it ... then I'd say that not all those products require you use them in the bathroom ... so you could use some of them in your room, say.
If it means that you have to wait for things to dry/soak in before putting on another product ... then that's easy too. Simply put on a product and do something else while you're waiting for it to soak in.
I often make my bed and get dressed while waiting for one stage of my morning routine to soak in. There's nothing more tedious than standing around waiting for something to "soak in"!
There's all sorts of things you can do to maximize the time you have ... ask any mother!
However, I'm not really understanding what the problem is ...

Hi,
I also see the "problem" as solvable.
If you shower in the morning, use the cleansing cream in the shower. Put on toner after you get out. Dry yourself or your hair. Put on C-serum then you can dress yourself while it soaks in. Then, put on some spot treatment as you need. Then you can put on sunscreen.
You would only use mask at nightime.
I hope this help |

Well Google5,
From the list you posted, there doesn't seem to be a cleansing cream. Also ... are you sure that it's "Dr. Holland's" as you posted ... or is it "Dr. Hauschka's"? Or are these Carrie's "home made" ones that she's changed the name for?
Faith's routine sounds just perfect for sensitive/oily skin.
In terms of the cleansing cream ... it's really easy to make.
Just go to the DIY recipe thread in this forum and print out the recipe. It just requires almonds, a blender/coffee grinder/food processor and some witch hazel. Simple.
If the 30 minutes that you have to get ready aren't enough ... then just get up a 6:15 am instead ... that gives you 45 minutes to get ready.
Good luck

Hi again Google5,
A mask would only be used at night ... or whenever you have the time to dedicate to it. A mask is generally only used two or three times a week ... sometimes only once a week. It's not something that's done every day ... so it's "outside" the regular routine.
As for the "red busting" one ... I don't know what that is ... so I don't know when you'd use it ... but it could be that's a "cleansing" oil.
What does Carrie say about it? Did she not send you any instructions for use?
If it's a cleansing oil ... then that's the cleanser ... but it shouldn't be confused with Dr. H's Cleansing Cream ... which is ground up almonds.
As per Faith's "routine" ... if you don't have the Dr. H's Cleansing Cream yet ... you'd simply wash/rinse your face in the AM, tone, etc.
At night ... you'd use the Cleansing Oil and follow the rest of the "routine" just omitting the Dr. H's Cleansing Cream.
Give the routine a try. It's not really as time-consuming as you seem to think it will be ... and if it initally takes a little more time than you're used to ... well ... you aren't the first person who has had to adjust his schedule to accommodate something they want to do. Women do it all the time!
As for the Cleansing Cream ... as I said before ... it's dead easy to make. If you're unsure ... get your mother to help you ... or get a friend to help you. She'll know how to follow the directions. Just make sure that you get "raw" almonds. Don't use the "blanched" almonds ... get the ones that still have "almond skin" still on them.
Good luck
Mary
ps And wasn't it just wonderful of Carrie to take the time to send you all that stuff? I think she's terrific ... so I hope you thanked her profusely! |

yea ive been trying to thank her, but she hasnt been on the forums in about 4 days!
But anyway.
here is the instructions on the red-busting..
Dr. Hollands's Redness-busting Oil
Directions: AM only: shake well put a couple of drops on your index fingers then rub both fingers together to "emulsify" oil and then spread oil evenly onto your entire face, avoiding eye area
Ingrediants: jojoba oil, essential oils.
EDITS IN SCHEDULE that need to be made (please read )
-Vitamin C brightning serum is PM only.
-When to use redbusting oil
-a facial moisturiser after the mask (check PM schedule, would that be Dr H's cleansing cream?)
AM
-Cleanse with only water
-Dr. Hauschka's cleaning cream
-ACV toner
-spot treatment (if needed for new breakouts)
-150mg clindomyicin pill with breakfast
-Sunscreen
AFTERNOON
- Wet washcloth dabbing, then duac
PM
-shower with aveeno cleanser
-Facial mask 1-2 times a week (sensitive skin)
-Dr H Cleansing Cream (it is gentle so twice a day is okay) (questionable)
-ACV toner
-Retin A, every other night and spot treating
My mom is still saying that the products will burn a hole in my skin, it makes me want to slap her. lol.
Check out the edits and stuff, also thats putting on like 3-4 things in the morning, dont you think that would leave me red for awhile? (sensitive skin)
Thanks alot! |

Hi again Google5,
Okay ... since you don't have the Dr. H's Cleansing Cream yet ... unless you make it asap ... then all reference to it would, of course, come out of your routine.
If you plan to make it ... then use it just as Faith indicates.
The facial mask, as Faith says, is used once or twice a week ... but what follows on her schedule is not a moisturizer ... it's Dr. H's Cleansing Cream [the thing you have to make] ... which is a cleanser.
Now, when I use a facial mask, I do so after cleansing ... if I understand this correctly, Faith is recommending that you use the Dr. H's C.C. after using the facial mask.
Dr. H's Cleansing Cream is a very gentle exfoliant when used properly ... you don't "scrub" with it ... you put some on your palm, add enough water so that you get an emulsion from it, smooth it all over your face and then press the mixture gently on the face.
If your skin is oily, you probably don't need a moisturizer in the PM ... unless your meds are really drying out your skin. Dr. H's Cleansing Cream is very nourishing to your skin ... but it's not a moisturizer.
As for the Red Busting Oil ... just as Carrie's instructions indicate ... you would use it only in the morning. I would use this as the very last step ...
As for the Vitamin C ... I use my vitamin C after my toner ... and before any "moisturizer" [ie: red busting oil].
However, I use Vitamin C morning and evening.
I think I've covered everything. Now ... you actually have to try this routine ... and see if you can handle it. Once you do it a few times ... it will become second nature to you.
Also ... read, read, read. There are lots of threads on here about Vitamin C ... facial redness, yada yada yada. The more you read on here ... the more you'll learn and begin to understand about your own skin.
As for Carrie ... you could always PM her ... and then it would be in her In Box waiting for her the next time she logs on.
And a big thank you should also go to Faith for taking the time to work out a very sensible, straight-forward routine for you.
I'm constantly amazed at the generosity of the people on this board. So many of them jump right in and try to help out with just about any problem ... and I'm sure they don't get nearly the recognition that they deserve.
Good luck!

hey google5,
i hope you're not as overwhelmed as you were, just relax and i'm sure one of the others will be replying to you soon about what you should be/not be experiencing! remember that sometimes these things do take a while to make changes to your skin (although we all want them to work straight away so you are not alone there). do stick at it, i'm sure you'll see benefits soon!

Google, hopefully this will help - I apply Decleor YY oil on my face in the mornings, do other things for 5 minutes while I wait for it to sink in, then blot off the excess. If it is taking too long to sink in, pressing it on lightly will help penetration. I never feel too oily with that on my face the whole day.
A skin-friendly oil such as jojoba can help stop overproduction of sebum apart from soothing away redness. When you are introducing new products to your routine it is quite normal for your skin to react, so give it some time to adjust. HTH |

Google5,
I make/use something similar to the redness busting oil, and I understand the problems you may be having. It does seem like the problem is that you're probably using too much. Use a little less. When you have the right products - a very little bit goes a long way. Using sunscreen after your small amount of Redness Busting Oil should tone down the shine/oiliness quite a bit (and if it doesn't, you're probably still using too much.. keep trying). |
