My skin is a dry/oily combination.
Around my forhead and my nose I always have flakes and no matter how much I exfoliate, they won't go away. I can't wear any kind of foundation, because it shows each and every flake (also I can't find my right color). I've found a nice dual-aciton moisturizer that moisturizes and helps fight pimples so my dryness has been under control.
My eyelids and chin, however, are very oily. I can't find a good, inexpensive eye base that will help keep my eyeshadow and eyeliner on, and by the end of every day, my makeup is visibly under my eyes. I can't stand it! I used to use Trish McEvoy eye base, but it's a bit out of my price range. Help?
*Also any tips for a nice natural/beach look (for a blue-eyed blonde)would be great! |

MAC paints make a great eye shadow base. I use the color Untitled. I've tried about every eye base out there and this is the only thing that works for me.
Urban Decay Primer Potion is also very popular.
Regarding skin care. Can you post the products that you are using? It will help us make some suggestions. |

Right now, I'm using Clean&Clear moisturizer. I use L'oreal Paris eyeshadow and mascara too. |

You're over exfoliating. Try to limit exfoliating to only 1 a week.
Mac paints and smashbox eyeshadow primer is definitely the best kinds you can go with. It'll change your life, trust me
For your eyes, rim your inner eyelids with black eyeliner...and smudge a tiny bit around top and bottom (lightly only during day or heavier at night). Add a nice copper colour, or a reddish pink colour. It'll make your eyes pop! Make sure you put eyeshadow on the bottom lids too.

Hi Blondie,
What if you try an aspirin mask (find recipe on line) at night and moisturize the heck out of your skin for the overnight. Aspirin mask tends to cut through the flakies. Try it weekly. You can't hurry good skin. Also, you might try fish oil caps and flax seed oil caps.
What do you mean by beachy look? Hairstyle? My beachy look is no MU (but lots of spf) and hair doing what it pleases.

Don't forget to add some bronzer on your cheeks and up your temples!! Copper eyeshadows are extremely popular for the beachy look. Especially paired with a nice pale/pinkish lipgloss. It helps when you're tanned though. I love using clarins face self tanner. It's amazing! |

I've always had the problem of my eye makeup sliding down my cheeks too - and I've tried all kinds of primers and shadows. However, I recently discovered Becca Eye Tint and it stays on even in this summer's crushing heat and humidity. - no need for a primer.
For a beachy look, I'd go with a tinted moisturiser, bronze toned shadow and blush and pink glossy lips. |

I have the same problem too with flakes around my hairline, nose, and chin areas especially with foundation. It's a total pain. Think I'm going back to using Fresh Black Tea Age Delay cream or something similar prior to makeup since it I need extra moisturizing. Still trying out different primers too.
My eye makeup stays put though, just have annoying dry flakes and most foundations I try go in the bin. Oh, the only eyeliner that has ever stayed on me is Revlon's Colorstay liquid liner, I have tried so many other brands and had no luck. For eyeshadows I use CoverGirl and that seems to hold.
I will definitely try the aspirin mask now, thanks! |
