safe skin tag removal in eye area

hi,
I'm new to this site (hi everybody)and i have a question...since nov i've had this skin tag that looks like a white head in the corner of my eye area underneath my eyebrow, half way to my eyeball and it seems like its growing (everything does when youre constantly scrutinizing it i guess). went to the dr. and he said its benign, leave it alone. i kind of want to get rid of it before it becomes huge! i have acne prone skin. very sensitive.any safe recommendations for that area? thanks

sounds like you've got milia. It's a type of clogged up pore. Being so close to the eye I wouldn't recommend attacking it yourself. Your doctor should've taken care of it for you.

I've had them and scraped them off with a needle and then put on polysporin, but I'd never had them so close to the eye...

I had great success using compound W wart remover stick-on pads on a skin tag that was right near my underarm. It was quite unsightly. The salicylic acid in the pads basically dissolved the thing over time. It did not leave any marks either. Whether you could use this in the delicate eye area.... hmm

m, I'm not so sure.

This sounds like a good idea for non-facial skin. How long did you have to use it, and how many pads did you use a day? I have skin tags, and little bumps that are more like tiny mounds of ugly skin.

I used it as directed on the box. One pad each day...and it worked. You can get them at a regular drugstore.

Good to know about the Compound W for tags and such on the body...I wouldn't use it for the face.

Sorry that your Derm. didn't take care of that for you Mouse...and you know no one but you notices it, right? I've gotten them occasionally and was told they're hereditary. Oh, and they don't really “pop”; save your skin and the frustration. My Derm zaps things such as this (tags, clogged pores, broken capillaries!) when I go for office visits...my favorite part...he uses some electronic do-hicky attached to his wall with a cord and wand (I affectionately call it the Annihilator 4000)...anyway, hope you can find a Derm. that has one; it’s so quick and easy (and included in my standard office visit fee). I can find out the name of the machine for you...or maybe someone knows? Think they’re fairly common....but my Mom’s Derm. doesn’t have one so she sees mine for zaps when she visits. Great for things that surface as they will.

thanks cyndi k- i have sporadic use of a computer so i just saw your input. i went to a doctor at a clinic, not a derm. he said a derm wouldnt go there, better seek an eye doctor. over all my doctor was really dismissive and not very helpful. i still dont know if its a clogged pore or what. i have been wearing heavy eye shadow all around the area for about 10 years without using makeup removers. he couldnt help me out there. i dont know who to goto. a derm or the eye doc. what is that do hicky thing you had done? where was it on your face? should i just dump some salicylic acid on the spot or what? it seems so shallow, but this is really getting to me.

Try copper peptides. I've removed a mole and skin tags using Super Cop. It is relatively gentle. It did take 3 months but I think it would work regardless of the type of "bump".
Your MD was not concerned so it is likely not something dangerous but it is always good to check first.

Please be cautious putting chems. or meds. near your lid. Agree w/ Sharky that it is not serious...but it's probably annoying and eye make-up probably accents it more..? And you seem to like eye shadow. Laughing

Called my Derm's office..the zapper is called a Hyfrecator. The nurse said he'd have to see it but that they zap around the eye area...I explained the location as you did in your first post. Eye-d Shock

see a Derm before an eye doctor - they look at more of these on a daily basis. I milk my Derm. visits...get a body mole check, any prescriptions I want/need (Retin-A?, Hydroquinone?, Acne meds?) and have him zap whatever wherever.

Shallow, smallow; if it bothers you take care of it...life is too short. Wink

To be honest, I removed my skin tags using my finger nails. My dermatologist said that I am crazy when I told him how I solved my problem =)

I sort of do the same thing...not with the finger nails but I watch out for these things and as soon as they come out, I scrub the heck out of it with aspirin and my pretika facial brush (a knock-off of a clarisonic brush). I do get a small wound every now and then and I just use neosporin to heal the wound.

There are some good laser options for skin tags. I think skin tags can be removed with a lamprobe laser. But I'm not sure about the eye area, because its more sensitive.
