Skin Fading Creams. Hyperpigmentation refers to the brown skin spots caused by an excess of the skin pigment melanin in certain areas. It can be heredi­tary as it is in freckles, occur with increasing age, or be related to pregnancy or the use of oral contraceptives. Hperpigmentation usually develops gradually and increases with exposure to sun. Skin lightening can be achieved by using a hydroquinone cream, such as those made by ICN. on small dark areas of skin. These products slow down the production of melanin in the area to which they are applied. This gradually lightens the spot. Exposure to sun without a sunscreen or sunblock can reverse the effects of the skin fading cream. The fading process usually takes 1-2 months with twice daily application. After the spot has faded. skin fading creams need only be applied often enough to maintain the effect. Makeup can be applied over the product after it has dried.

Unfortunately Glyquin has been discontinued. However, Cosmedix, Obagi, PCA Skin®, Cellex-C, and DeVita are alternative lines that we highly recommend.
