Now that summer's coming on I have that whole slightly oily nose and forehead thing to look forward to. Blech!!
So, I was wondering since this forum is a wealth of information, does anyone know of any good blotting papers that you can carry in a purse and stuff?
I've been using the Shiseido ones, and while they're really nifty and convenient, they have powder on them that I'm not sure I entirely trust. The counter reps at Nordstrom couldn't tell me anything about them, not even if they were hypoallergenic or noncomedogenic. So I figured I'd defer to all of your opinions (in case I get any!!)
My dog was just walking down the hall and walked right into a door and fell over. Sorry, that was kind of off topic but it made me laugh. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

I know this sounds odd, but Zig Zag papers works amazing. No powder, and they suck up everything and they are dirt cheap. You just might wanna put them in another container. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

If it's just for the purpose of blotting oil (that you dont need the powder-finish), I would recommend Johnson Clean and Clear, they dont feel like a paper, actually, it feels like a piece of fabric, very soft and light, yet, it has very very powerful oil absorbing power!!! This would be a very good option if you have very oily face, if not, you can opt for something less "powerful"
Oh, yes, and it is very portable too, it's of a size of a credit card that you can stick it into your purse!! |

Thanks so much for the suggestions!! I'll try those out as soon as I finish up the last of my shiseido ones. Fortunately my skin isn't really greasy/oily, but in the summer it tends to get perdy dern shiny. |

Bbiz - is it the blue Clean&Clear ones you're talking about? They're pretty much the best I've tried, and really cheap too. Mind you, you might want to stock up. They were discontinued in Australia a few months back, not sure if they're going to can them in other countries too. I don't even understand why they'd get rid of them, I'm sure they sold well
But, the Clinique ones are good too (but pricey) and Shiseido ones as well. Not all Shiseido ones have powder on them. There are a lot of different types of the Shiseido blotting powders. Most of them are only available in Asia. But, you can pick them up for really cheap on eBay though. I have the Naturgo ones and they're pretty good.

I recommand Clean and Clear ones, just as the others have said, it feels like a fabric and really soft. It absorbes oil fast, not to mention that one sheet is enough for the whole face! Cheap too, compared to the other brands. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I think clean and Clear would be your choice. It has no powder yet softer than papers help you get the shine and give you instantly results. I use it everyday. We all trust it.
Tip: Don't use more than 3 times a day. This is for every blotting papers because your skin may produce even more oil.

I like the J&J ones, or almost all good asian brands..
shiseido makes quite a few unpricy ones under it's different lines (rather than the expensive $20AUD or something a packet ones sold at regular shiseido counters). Anna sui blotting papers are also fairly nice, not to mention they are sooo pretty in pale purple , $10USD from sephora.
Or bloom blotting papers are nice too, a faint lavender scent, it's supposed to have some powder on it but i never detect any, but it's a good cheapo alternative to the expensive brands, at $5AUD a packet |

some of my reviews over years under the heat...
Clean & clear film: good absorbing power! cheap. But nowadays i don't really need that.
gatsby: it's a japan'a brand, quite similar to clean & clear, in terms of quality and price. there are two type "film" & "powder paper". "film" is even stronger than clean & clear... well, coz they cater for men to use also. For "powder paper", it's my fave. Won't make me become "little white face", good absorbing power as well. It's save time for touch up at lunch.
Shiseido: nothing really fantastic. actually there are lot's of variety, paper, w/powder etc. I don't like the powder one, coz the powder is too coarse. One of the paper one, may torn half way when you blot... maybe soak up too much oil already...
Kose: really depends with type you get, coz they also have lotsa variety. Some good, some not so good.
Ipsa: A big paper, not too bad and won't tear into two piece. But the con is quite expensive.. almost double the price of clean & clear.
Biore: There is a type of wet & dry blotter. A piece of blotter with 2 side, blue side is dry and purple side is wet (think it's something like alcohol). 1st is to use the dry side to blot, then use the wet side to blot again. The result is quite refreshing. Good if you really need to touch up your messy makeup as the wet side can wipe up the mess. But not cheap.
other: there are tons of not branded blotters from Japan (maybe just we don't know much about them). Some very cute, some with very nice packing, some using "gold paper"- traditional type of Japanese paper. Heard the gold paper is good too, and there is a brand which result long queue (gals & guys) in Japan. ![Exclamation](images/smiles/exclaim.gif) |

Where do you get the Biore blotting paper? Are they in the department store or grocery market? It sounds interesting and really refreshing during hot humid weather ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

My friends from Japan got me hooked on Yojiya blotting paper. It's a rice paper product.
According to my Japanese friends, there are long queues in Japan for this product. Or so they tell me.
They have a distributor in Southern California where I order mine from. They come powderless (my preference) or powdered (my best friend's preference) in 3 shades (transparent, pink, beige). |
