I finally got around to trying my sample of Ecco Bella Organic Dark Chocolate Mask. This mask is sort of like a gel-like dark brown substance. You are instructed to apply a thin layer to your face and leave it on until it dries, which doesn't take very long. Ecco Bella claims that this mask will "nourish and cleanse your skin while leaving it softer and smoother then ever" . . . I must disagree! After using this mask my skin became slightly irritated and itchy, and this symptom has lasted well into this afternoon from last night. It isn't severe, but it is annoying to get an itchy reaction from a supposedly soothing mask! Now, Ecco Bella touts itself as a natural company, and after I got the reaction I looked up the ingredients, listed below:
Organic aloe vera, organic cocoa powder, organic safflower oil, kaolin, organic extract of marshmallow and chamomile, dehydroacetic acid, benzyl alcohol, (mild preservatives).
It must be the 'mild preservatives' that did it for me. Honestly, I don't see a point in purchasing an expensive mask when you can just whip up a batch of safflower oil, aloe vera and cocoa powder at home for much less money. I will not be purchasing this mask again. |
